My compaq cq5110f PC has solid green light in back but when I hit power button it shuts back off immediately

Sounds like a bad power module. It's very common. Also, a PC has a thermostat that starts and stops a cooling fan. If the Fans don't run the PC will overheat and shut down. The interior is probably dirty. Use a compressed air bottle and blow out all the dust especially off the main motherboard. I had a similar problem but the PC stayed on for about 20 minutes before shutting down. A good cleaning solved the problem. Bad power modules are very common and I'm inclined to think that is your problem. Nonetheless, a good cleaning may help and is an inexpensive option.

I have a HP Media Center PC m1264n desktop.I can turn it on and 1 minute or maybe 5 to 10 minutes into it,it will just shut down, but the power led light on the front of the PC stays on.I reboot it and it...

Is it going to sleep or is it actually shutting down? Do you have to push the power button to turn it back on? Just a thought - if you have Windows 7, go to Start, Control Panel, then System and Security. Now check 'Change when the computer sleeps' under Power Options. Under Edit Plan Settings, what do you have for 'Put the computer to sleep'. Does '20 minutes' show up in the box? Open it and change it to 'Never' and then Save changes. If this didn't help you, maybe someone else can.

When i plug my dvd writer to the power supply it keeps causing my computer to shut down and start back up then shut down again

It has gone faulty and is causing a power overload and this causes the PC to shut down, so it will not be damaged. Either the power supply Inside the DVD is faulty or the DVD, is.

PC shuts down. When you turn on the pc it shuts

try to change the source, that should solve the problem. But before try reset CMOS. (if you don`t know how to do it by jumper simple remove the battery from the mainboard for 5 minutes and then plug it back on..and after that turn on your computer and press F1 for default settings)

Disabled on board video

You have to be able to get in to the bios in order to do anything. Did you try another monitor or try to reset the current one? Is there power?, the only thing you can try if you can't even get into safe mode or bios, is to first clear the cmos, by either moving the jumper "near the battery", from the two pins to the middle and last open pin, or removing the battery, making sure the machine is unplugged, not just shut down. Wait 5-10 minutes and make sure the jumper is the way it was before you moved it, if you moved it. Then start her up, let us know what happened, that should reset everything back to default .

Call Dell for support. Looks like something in motherboard detects something (like temperature) then shut down your system.
Probably only need cleaning up inside.

I cant get my mouse pad to work after turning it off in control panel. Im on windows vista and on a lap top. Curser wont work so cant go back in to turn it on again.

Hold the Alt key and press F4. Press Enter to shut down the computer.

Once it's shut down, press the POWER button on the computer's system box to turn the computer on again and reset it back to normal.

Hope this works.

My Acer Aspire AST180 shuts down with no warning

Sounds like you have a faulty power supply. The internal parts of your pc produce alot of heat, and if a part is heating up, then it will cause your pc to shut off.

With you saying that unplugging it , and then waiting , and then it comes back on, it sounds like once some part has cooled off, then the pc works.

My bet would be your power supply. Do make sure however, that all your parts are still tight in their sockets.. ie processor, memory , etc. I saw a pc that shut off at random times because the heat sink didn't make good contact with the processor once in college. So you want to check those things.
