Re: to use moserbare 1gb pen drive
to use USB mass storage in Windows 98 you need to install drivers for your mass device. So,
Findout if any CD/DVD shipped with your pendrive. Install driver from that to your Windows 98 PC, then you can use it.
If you don't have any setup disk from manufacturer, there might be drivers and software prestored in your pen drive. Use this pendrive to any other PC with XP/Vista. Burn these files to any CD/DVD and then make install these drivers to your Windows 98 PC, after that you can use your pen drive on your Windows 98 PC.
If you are not able to do step 2, then goto manufacturer's site select your model no. and download driver and install.
If still you didn't found. Tell me your pendrive manufacturer and model no. I will try to give you link.

Try to right click your pen drive then copy and paste it on your My Documents folder. When done, follow these steps: 1. Go to start menu 2. Click Run and type cmd ==A command prompt shows.== 3. Type cd\ 4. Type format x: 5. Press Enter key 6. When done type exit
Note: Copy all the files you have transferred on your My Documents folder and paste files again to your pen drive. You can now do whatever you want on your pen drive.
"limitation is that flash memory has a finite number of erase-write
cycles. Most commercially available flash products are guaranteed to
withstand around 100,000 write-erase-cycles, before the wear begins to
deteriorate the integrity of the storage" This means that your flash card may have been damaged by not removing correctly Flash card are not that reliable AS previous pen drives
First, you should know your pen drive is infected with a virus. You
can't usually repair it, you'lll just have to format it, and I'm
getting to that.
Now, Before you format the pen drive, you might want to preserve some files in the drive?
Instead of trying to view the pen drive by double clicking or right
click=>open TYPE the ASSOCIATED DRIVE LETTER at the RUN DIALOG BOX
If your pen drive is assigned to drive E:
Type "E:" (without quotes) and hit enter.
It should open.
Now you will probably see some weired .exe file, probably named
fun.exe. That's the virus. You just cant delete it. BUT you can copy
the rest of the imprtant files to your hard drive.
type "cmd" (without qoutes) and hit enter
type "format/x E:" (without qoutes and mind your spellings and spacing.
REPLACE "E:" with the associated drive letter of the pen drive)
