Hello, my dryer got wet due to my basement flooding and it starts, but no heat.

It is highly risky to use any electric appliance even after the removal of flood water. Before using it you need to make sure that it is not wet from either inside or outside. Even a single drop of water can cause a short circuit at you home and can also lead to unfortunate event. In such case you need to search for a company like http://floodfixer.com/ that dries wet basements to ensure your safety. Professionals can bring your valuable possessions back to its original position and make them ready for reuse.

there is a chance that the motor contacts have been corroded, depends on the age of the machine.and if there is a control board in the lower half of the dryer it could be as much as three hundred to fix it especially if you have a service tech come out and look at it if the unit is not under warranty.

I have a kenmore front loader dryer. My basement recently had a flood and the bottom of the dryer was wet. When i tried to start it, it hums but will not run. What is the problem?

the motor is cooked,i live in the boston area and we had some bad floods a few months ago,all i did for two weeks was change out dryer motors, you can try to spin the drum and hold in the door switch and have someone else hold in the start button to see if it will start but you have to change out the dryer or get a new one if it's in rough shape

I have a Kenmore 600 electric dryer. The basement flooded and the dryer was in approximately 6 inches of water. I've removed all the water from the cabinet and let it sit for 2 days to completely dry out....

Sorry to say but water ruined the motor. You can test it again by pushing the start button and at the same time spin the motor. If the motor starts that will tell you the start windings in the motor are bad. The motor would have to be replaced.

It sounds like the motor was damaged in the flood. You may be able to salvage it by spraying both ends of the motor shaft with penetrating oil several times moving it in between, but you may not be able to salvage it.

How much water did you have in the basement? Back in June we had flooding in the area, and the my recommendation to everyone has been to replace any appliance that was under any water.

If the motor was under water, wires or the gas valves, these components will corroded and could cause you future safety concerns.
