Question about Homelite Mighty Lite Lawn Trimmer
The large knob at the bottom of the spool is reverse threads, lefty loosey righty tighty is backwards for the line trimmers. I usually use a set of channel locks to grip the knob to turn it RIGHT to loosen.

Tips for a great answer:
On trimmers I have you take out the spool by pushing in the lock ears and pulling out the spool. Then put the end of the line in a little hole in the spool and wind the line in the direction shown on the spool till it is full. Do the same for the other line. Leave a little slack so you can put a few inches of line through the hole in the cutter head as you snap the spool back into place.
