I don't think your Macbook is required in this situation, if I understand correctly the wireless N adapter plugs into the tivo correct? If so then your entering the data via some sort of input device (keyboard, remote, etc.) into the settings for your tivo. Try powering your router off waiting 30 secs and then power it back on, then try entering the data again. It could also be that your router doesn't use the 192.168.10.1 numbering scheme, some routers like apple's use a 10.xx.xx.x system and others use 192.168.1.xxx. I'm guessing that the tivo setup is asking for your routers IP address so it can assign the wireless N adapter an IP address of its own via DHCP. If this is the case try looking in your router's user manual to see what the router's IP address is set to by default when you first install it. Hope this helps, I could help further if I had some more information about the situation. If this does solve the problem, don't forget to vote, rate, comment, etc. Thank you.

Tivo Premier xl4 won't work right with Charter Cable tuning adapter

You need to have a cable card from Charter inserted into the TiVo, and it'll have to be "paired" with the equipment at the cable company's head end, and on top of that, if they do what's called Switched Digital Video, where some channels have to be specifically asked for every so often to get put on the cable at "some carrier frequency", you need what's called a tuning adapter which is a separate box that connects to the TiVo via a USB cable, and which also connects to the cable company cable (best way is with cable splitter so that one leg "dead ends" at tuning adapter).

First you need to take the tuning adapter out of the system entirely and make sure the cable card is working. Then you can add it back into the mix.

And you may need to harass Charter's customer service department a lot to get this stuff to actually work.

A good place to ask further questions about this is the TiVo Community Forum (which is not an official TiVo, Inc. site), which is where lots and lots of knowledgeable TiVo users hang out and help each other.

Do you have a Tivo Premier and are you experiencing wireless communication...

Recenty, I discovered that devices were dropping off of my wireless network (Netgear N300 wireless N with DSL modem). After trial and error, the solution to the wireless communication problems was to create a wireless N bridge using the Tivo Wireless N adapters.

To use this feature, you will need two Tivo wireless N adapters. One wireless N adapter should be set to bridge and plugged into an available ethernet port into your router. The second adapter should be set to client and plugged into the ethernet port in the back of the Tivo Premier. Once the power has been applied to both wireless adapters and the Wireless adapter (connected to the router) has connected to an available address on your router, press and hold the button (on top of each adapter) to establish a secure wireless connection between both adapters.

Once each adapter has established communication, you will have a separate 5Ghz Wi Fi signal (as well as a channel )dedicated to you Tivo devices throughout the house. Each Tivo Premier added to the house should have the wireless N adapter and connected using the secure connection to the wireless bridge by pressing the button on each adapter (the one on the router as well as the one on the Tivo to install).

If sucessfully installed, you should be able to connect to all Tivos on the network for management as well as streaming. If communication between the Tivos isn't successful, you will have to restart each Tivo and establish a new connection to the Tivo service.

Another suggestion when using the wireless N adapters is to setup a static IP address on each Tivo that is higher than the IP address assigned to the wireless adapter. Each Tivo utilized two IP addresses for each device (one for the adapter and one for the Tivo). You may have to check the router administration screen to determine the IP addresses used for the wireless adapters before establishing a static IP address for the Tivos. If you assign static IP addresses to each Tivo, you will have to restart each Tivo and reconnect them to the Tivo service to establish proper network mapping.

With this wireless network configuration, you will ensure that your Tivos are connected to the service using high speed, dedicated wireless N communication for streaming purposes between the services offered while not impacting other computers, servers, video game machines, and tablets that are connected into your house.

Since the Roamio uses a built in wireless adapter, you may not have success in adding a Roamio to the wireless bridge created on your router unless you disable the built in wireless adapter and purchase the external wireless N model from Tivo.

Tivo XL4 constantly reboots

If you have done the usual thing - i.e. pulled the plug and done a forced restart and the problem continues, you've probably got a bad hard drive and will need to replace the unit. But I trust you have called Tivo tech support at 877-367-8486. If you are an existing Tivo Customer, which it sounds like you are, they've got good deals right now - if you call them - for new ones - prices ranging from $129 for a straight XL and $199 for a 4XL

You don't need a driver for the Tivo AG0100... you plug it into one of the USB ports of a TiVo DVR and configure it from the Settings & Messages -> Settings -> Network -> Change network settings menu in the TiVo DVR.

Convert and Transfer Tivo/TS to iPad for HD 720p Playback I use the old version...

Convert and Transfer Tivo/TS to iPad for HD 720p Playback
I use the old version of Toast 8 with TiVo Transfer to download my favorite shows from my TiVo Premiere to Apple hard drive. However, I could not get the movies to my new iPad via Toast or TiVo Transfer. The file extension for the TiVo videos is not supported by iTunes. Thus, I need to convert TiVo to iPad compatible format.
Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac is the right TiVo to iPad converter for me to convert recorded video to a file that iPad can use. The Mac Video Converter for iPad does convert .tivo files to .mp4 for iPad. I like setting it up to convert my favorite TV shows and movie, and go to bed, leaving it working. Then sync them to iPad for watching on my travel.

For you guys who may have the same problem for converting TiVo to iPad MP4, I here demonstrate the quick steps using Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac.
Step 1. Load TiVo videos to Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac.
Run Aunsoft Vido Converter for Mac as the recommended Mac TiVo to iPad converter, and click the "Add" button to load .tivo videos or .ts videos, which had been transferred from TiVo Premiere to MacBook Pro or iMac.
Step 2. Choose iPad 720p output format.
Click the "Format" option and choose iPad > iPad HD Video(*.mp4), and the Mac TiVo to iPad converter will downscale the 1080i TiVo videos to 720p iPad MP4 videos.

Step 3. Convert TiVo/TS to iPad MP4.
Click the convert button under the preview window, and the Mac TiVo to iPad converter starts transcoding TiVo/TS to iPad MP4 in 720p.
After the conversion, the HD videos will be ready for syncing to iPad. With Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac as the TiVo to iPad converter, it is easy to transfer TiVo videos to iPad.
Tips:
If you have TiVo videos from your friend, remember to ask for the Media Access Key (MAK) for the files. Click the Option button and enter the MAK before loading TiVo files for conversion to iPad.

We have lost the original disc that came with the TIVO and I need to get the Tivo wireless network adaptor set up on our wireless network. How can I do that without the disc, is thee anyway around that ?

The disk us usually not necessary. If you are using a series 2 TiVo you just plug this in to the back of the TiVo and it will recognize it. In the TiVo menu find Network Settings. If you select change network settings it will ask you to select your wireless router and ask for the password to your router if you are using one.

I do not have a phone line to do guided setup. I would like to use a wireless adapter with my home network router but have been unable to buy a compatible one from the tivo.com list locally. Is the list...

You can do the guided setup without a phone line up to the point where it attempts to connect to the network using the wireless adapter. If it successfully connects, then you can continue the guided setup. If it does not successfully connect, then you're stuck until you can. In other words, you don't need the phone line as long as you have a wireless adapter and that adapter can successfully connect to your network and the internet.

I believe that, with the exception of some dicey hacks, you're stuck using the Tivo wireless adapter. The Tivo Community Forum website is a good place to ask questions like this. The site is independent of Tivo, inc. and has a lot of great information.

Hope this helps.
