Your fuel cap has a venting system that runs through the threads and not a hole on top. If you tighten your cap to tight it will cause a vacuum build up in the tank and not allow fuel to travel to the carburetor. Hope this helps.

If there is a fuel filter running completely out of fuel sometimes allows all of the bad stuff in the fuel tank to plug the fuel filter (if it has one). press the primer bulb until you can hear fuel, then it should start.

Have you checked to make sure it has spark when you set the lever to start it?

I would return it to the store unless you want to investigate further. You can remove the fuel hose from the carburetor to see if fuel is getting TO the carb at all, if yes then remove the float bowl by taking the nut off of the bottom. If fuel does not flow from the needle valve when the float swings down the needle valve could be a plugged or stuck. If the bowl was full of fuel and the needle valve works as it should the main jet may be plugged. The main jet looks like a brass screw that is slotted and screwed into the bottom of the carburetor. Remove it and blow out the tiny holes; once you do all of this it should elliminate any fuel issue and if it will still not start it must be electrical such as a bad plug or other grounding of the ignition system. Either way it should not be happening to a brand new machine. Mine is over three years old and not a single issue with the engine or pump yet so what you are experiencing is not normal at all.

If I remember correctly, there is not an operator actuated choke on that unit. It is thermostatically controlled be a device behind the muffler.

I bought a new craftsman pressure washer 2700psi. Put oil and gas in it. Cranked on the first try. It worked for about 15 minutes and then cut off. Now the pull start is very hard to pull and will not...

Hello
Take out the spark plug and try pulling,if it is still hard then then there is a problem with the pull start mechanism.
Check the plug for oil fouling or fresh oil.If there is excessive oil you may have bad rings.

If in doubt, craftsman will honor the 1 year warranty no questions asked, for a new unit.

The first thing I would check would be the oil level, to make sure you didn't put in too much oil. If the oil level is correct, it could be a stuck piston ring, letting oil blow by the piston, and out the exhaust. If this is the case, you are going to have to tear down the engine.

Hope this helps!
