Question about Kenmore 43142 Front Load Washer

1 Answer

I have a Kenmore HE 2 plus model 110 front-load washer purchased 11/2006. It makes a rubbing sound when the drum turns. Everything else seems to be working properly, but I am afraid to use the washer for fear that I might create a bigger problem. I called a repairman who suggested (without seeing it)that it was probably a bearing (or bushing I'm not sure) and the cost to repair it would be almost as much as a new washer. What would you suggest?

Run a few washes without soap. You may be using to much detergent. The machine only uses a gallon of water. You put much soap in there and that puppy will growl like grizzly bear. Only a tiny amount of soap is all you need or bad things are going to happen. You seeing any brown stains on your clothes? That is a sign of a bad bearing.I have a Kenmore HE 2 plus model 110 front-load - fc42036.jpg

The washer drum wont spin.

If your washer does not drain you need to check this parts.
  1. Inspect the drain hose for kinks
  2. Test the timer control
  3. Test the lid switch(some models)
  4. Inspect the water pump
  5. Inspect the drive belt(belt drive only)
  6. Inspect the motor coupler

DRYER PROBLEM

When the pads on the front wear, it will make noise when running. They can be replaced. There is one on the top and one on the bottom rim where the drum turns. You remove the front to access them by removing the screws on the top. Post your model number for diagrams. It's usually stamped on a small tag in a visible location on your appliance.

Washer-Dryer- behind or on top of the control panel. Behind the door. On the lower front or side of the cabinet.

Weird rubbing or mild grinding noise when in spin cycle.

It sounds like the bearings on your tub are going. This is an expensive and difficult job to do. (approx $450 parts and labour and you may do more damage trying to take it apart)

Kenmore front loading HE3 makes knocking sounds during spin cycle

Ours started knocking several months ago and then progressed to a high pitched sound when in the spin cycle. I manually turned the drum and heard and felt a bearing roughness. I lifted the drum assembly and felt a fair amount of play, which I think the initial knocking noise came from. On the sears web site a new rear drum mount cost 293.00. Today we went and bought a LG model wm2455hw at Home depot, on sale until 2/20/08. I couldn't see paying to repair a machine that only lasted four years.
