SOURCE: Amana Portable A/C Model#AP077R Remote control

I have a similar problem. The remote works for 5 to 10 minutes then no longer works. If I take the batteries out of the remote for 10 minutes (or longer) and reinstall them, the remote will again work for 5 to 10 minutes. I got a replacement remote from Frys and it behaved the same way.

Kathy, it sounds as if you are using a hose to drain the water to a floor drain.

If that is the case, do the following after turning the unit OFF & unplugging it:

1. Disconnect the hose from the unit and check the hose for clogs.

2. If none are found in # 1, the clog is in the unit's hose connection and/or internal tubing.

3. Using an 18" long plastic Zip Tie or something similar (NO wire coat hangers, though) insert the Zip Tie carefully into the hose connection on the unit and push it in, until you reach a bend in the tubing. You must gingerly work it past this bend, until the Zip Tie bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then slowly pull it back out while rotating (twisting) it. This will dislodge any clogs. As you reach the end of the exiting Zip Tie, be prepared for some water to follow.

Hop this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know.Thanks.

I have the Amana portable 3 in 1 air conditioner model #ap077r. It works fine but air only comes out of the right half of the fan vent. Is this how it is supposed to be and if not, how can I fix it?

It probably has 2 evaporator fans and one has failed. (I couldn't find your model on the Amana site, so I don't have any additional information.)

Has water leaking out of the back of the system?? Is it suppose to have a drain hose to it??

It has to have some way to get rid of condensation. There should be a hose fitting or nipple located on it somewhere.

Amana ap077r one button on remote doesnt work, how can i fix, i can press all the buttons on the remote and they work except the down button. do i need a new remote or is there an easy fix to this problem.

You can fix the problem of the failure of the contact within your remote. First of all you need to understand that there is CARBON contact underneath the pad that you press. Carefully remove the remote control, use a sharp knife to carefully open without damaging. Take the pad and the remote control PCB out of the cover. carefully using a good cloth clean the PCB and the carbon dots under the pad. if you happen to see any maiture/ sweat tugged inside, use a hair dryer to slowly heat up to remove and dry. Now identify the defective pad. You can get to buy the carbon dots but if have any old calculators/ remote that is lying arround, carefull cut off the carbon dot and using a good glue stick it to the problem pad. If your PCB tracks are intact and if the Remotecontroller IC is alright then you have rectifed the fault. Hope my advice helps.Good day
