Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. It seems to be a bad door seal(part#9) in this picture as there is no separate transmission for this model:

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Wow that sounds like a much simpler problem easily fixable. Am I correct in that assumption?

Stains usually come from oil leaking from the transmission because of a failed seal. Post your model number. look - behind or on top of the control panel. Behind the door. On the lower front or side of the cabinet. Some have replaceable seals and some you have to replace the transmission. If it's very old you should consider a new washer.

Part 12 on this diagram is your u joint kit which is the closest thing you have to a transmission. It has lubrication in it. The kit comes with seals. If you determine that the staining is coming from this it doesn't look hard to replace. It's under the washplate and washplate dome. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partse...

Calypso stains load

Hi there
I wonder why "dark streaks" on white towels. I presume that you have made sure that there is no dirt flying around in the machine.
Try to let the machine go a circle -without any washing in it- just to see if the water takes color. There are also in the shops washing powder
that remove stains of different types.
Also powder for "only whites"
good luck

My washer stains my clothes. it looks like grease stains on delicate fabrics. plse advise. I checked many times and dont know where it is coming from. agnes

The brown stains are likely coming from the felt drum seal. The OEM adhesive is tar based - and after time and use - breaks down.

You'll need a new felt seal - and the adhesive that is used should be silicone based... eliminating the brown streaks.

Starting to leave brown oily like stain on clothes

The first place that I'd check would be the small metal screens inside the openings on the water inlet valve. They can get really rusted, epecially in areas with hard water, so I would recommend removing the water supply hoses and take a gander at the screens. They can sometimes release the iron oxide into the wash water and cause brown stains or blotches on clothing. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Turn water off. Remove hoses and clean the rust out of the strainers at hose end. If they are clogged they will sound funny when water goes through them.

Stains on clothes after washing

This sounds like the infamous "Frigidaire Flaw" (they make some of GE's washers). The likely culprit is that the bearings on the drum's spindle are leaking.

To diagnose, call a repair man, or pull it out and remove the back cover. If you see brown streaks from the center spindle - that's it.

Repair is cheap if you can do the work yourself (inner and outer bearings), but $300+ for a technician
