How do i remove write protection from my kingston datatraveler G2 2GB? thank you for your assistance

click start control panel administrive tools computer management disk management right click on your drive select properties then security select take full control in windows 7

USB drives can be write-protected by modifying the StoreageDevicePolicies Registry key and WriteProtect Registry value.
click Start>run>regedit to open Registry Editor. and press control+F to open the find dialogue box and type "usb device" or "driverdesc" to open usb mass storage device or type "usb mass storage device" in the search windows. And right click on it and delete. This will set the policy value to 0. then insert your usb device. It will work fine.
# Remember: do not delete any unknow files in the registry as this will make some programes not work as usual.

also
If you are running a Windows XP OS then you might be able to:

- click start right click on my computer select open
- Right click the icon of your Flash Drive (It should be F:/ or something)
- Click Properties in the menu that comes up
- Click the Sharing tab
- Click permissions
- And finally, click Allow next to Full Control.

hope this helps

My 4 gb usb flash drive is not working (not formatting) .it showing 8 mb size when i try to format

Hello,
That message normallymeans your flash drive has failed or the files structure cannot be read byWindows.

You can try it on another computer, and see if it works.

Re-formatting may restore the file structure so it can be used again, but youwill loose the data on the flash drive.

IF!!! you do have to format and that works you can use a file recovery programlike recuva
HERE: http://www.filehippo.com/download_recuva...to hopefully retrieve the lost files.
b> OR THINK YOUR COMPUTER VIRUSAFFECTED .TRY TO BE SURE FOLLOW THESE IF CAN NOT SHOWHIDDEN FILE (TOOLS >FOLDER OPTION >VIEW> CHECK ON SHOW HIDDENFILE>CHECK OFF HIDE PROTECTED AND CHECK OFF HIDE EXTENSION)
RUN >TYPE> MSCONFIG > ENTER =CAN NOT OPEN MS CONFIG)
RUN > TYPE> REGEDIT>ENTER =CAN NOT OPEN REGISTRY
RUN > TYPE >GPEDIT.MSC> ENTER =CAN NOT OPEN GROUP EDIT POLICY

THINK VIRUS AFFECTED YOURPC YOU SHOULD DELETE PARTITION AND CREATE NEW LY AND FORMATYOUR PC NOW INSTALL FRESH OS b> HOPE IT SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM

1. Download this tool:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4040651/LLFTOOL.EXE

2. Format

(WARNING: After running this low level format tool,
the whole USB flash disk surface will be fully erased.
Therefore, data restoration will be impossible after using this utility!)
