Moen Universal Fill Valve Model M5350 problems

Some kind of crud may have goten into the fill line during installation and is blocking shutoff. The new fill valve could be defective. Something may be preventing the float from stopping the flow. The flapper may be allowing slight leakage, preventing the fill valve from shutting off and staying off. The "overflow tube" actually is the fill tube; the tank fills from the bottom up.

Our automatic ice maker will not quit dripping in the freezer. It keeps clogging the ice maker with icicles and large blocks of ice. Essentially, it keeps "freezing over." We have defrosted it...

if it keeps filling and overflowing you have a bad water valve on the back of the fridge.the part number is WR57X10027 and the valve is around 75 dollars.first thing lift the arm or shut off the ice maker so it won't leak anymore, you're missing a few letters off of the model number so when you call your parts store give them the full model number, open the fridge door, look up on the right hand side wall up near the ceiling and give them the model number to make sure you get the correct valve, shut off the water supply to the fridge, then have the new valve next to the old valve when you remove a water line from the old valve just connect it to the new valve,do this until everything is changed out and the new valve is in place, turn on the water supply and you can check the ice maker to make sure it doesn't overflow.you can manually start the ice maker by grabbing the plastic arms of the ice maker and pull them forwards slowly until the arms start to advance on their own, you'll hear the water valve fill the ice maker and then you can watch it fill to see if the water is filling it correctly and i'm sure you'll be fine with the new water valve installed

Washer keeps flashing FH and stopping. Checked the hoses and they are not kinked up or bent. Any ideas??

It is a water flow code. If after 30 seconds no water is detected entering the machine or if the water flow entering the machine is less than 10.5 gals. in 8 minutes the code will also display. Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display.

Check that your supply faucet is open, Check if there is a screen in the supply line, these can become blocked due to scale deposits from the mains. If there is no screen check that the inlet solenoid valve has not got blocked. If none of the above help, check that there is power getting to the solenoid valve when the machine is supposed to be on the fill cycle. If no power is betting to the valve, the timer might ba faulty. (You can try hand filling the machine and see if it goes through a cycle, at least up to the rinse stage, this will tell you if the timer control is working).

I just replaced the fluid valve with the fluimaster 400AC and water coming out every few seconds from the bottom of the tank where the rubber seal is?

Hi, W/D here.

Easy fix. Tighten the nut on the underside of the tank that holds the fill valve in place. It will rotate inside the tank about 45 degrees (or so). While holding the underside with the wrench, rotate the fill valve with your hand back towards the right position, which tightens the fitting by about 1/6 turn. When you turn the fill valve, you want to have your hand spread over the valve as much as possible to apply a more equal pressure so that the valve doesn't crack or break. You can do this several times, if necessary, but don't over tighten. If it gets too hard to move, you may have to remove the fill valve and clean the rubber gasket and the tank seating surface. Make sure that the gasket is centered in the tank hole when you re-install it.
If the leakage is in the seal where the supply line mates to the fill valve, you can tighten it further, and this may cause the leak to stop, which is usually the case. Again, you may have to re-orient the fill valve if it moves. If this does not stop the leak, remove the fill line from the fill valve and inspect the end for cracks in the gasket or any other deterioration. If you are re-using your old line, you can remove the old gasket and use the one supplied with your installation kit. Should this fail to fit, or leakage occurs, you may need to replace the supply line.
Best regards, --W/D--

Hi, we installed the toilet two days ago and it was working fine. It has just stopped refilling. I do not see anything wrong.

there is likely a sediment build up either in the fill valve of the toilet or possibly in the supply line. You can try shutting off the water to the toilet, disconnecting the supply line from the tank and running the water into a bucket to see if the toilet is getting a water supply. If so, then you may need to replace the fill valve. For future reference:
Any time you install a new toilet or remove and reinstall a toilet, it is a good idea to flush the water lines (as described above) before replacing the fixture. This can help to remove sediment from the water lines and the Shut off valve and prevent the sediment from building up (and eventually clogging) the fill valve.

WATER IN WASHER WONT SHUT OFF

Hi and welcone to FixYa. I am Kelly. When water wont shut off no matter what you do the problem is inside of the water valve assy. Usually there is a small bit of debris in the diaphram center hole that is holding the water passage open.

Here is what you can try to do to clear if BEFORE replacing the eater Valve.

1. Get a bucket
2. Turn off both water supply hoses momentarily
3. Set the water temp to warm
4. Remove ONE hose from the wall connection and place the hose in a the bucket.
5. Turn on the remaning connected hose/
6. Start machine fill cycle and tap the hose connection at the water valve on the back of the machine with either a screw driver or hammer handle.

Timer OFF

REVERSE HOSE CONNECTIONS ON THE WALL CONNECTION.

7. Place the other hose in the bucket
8. Start Fill cycle.
9. Again tap the hose connection at the water valve
10. Stop timer.
11. Reconnect both hoses and test for water flow with timer off.
12. Start fill cycle
13. Rapidly select hot and cold wash water.
14. STOP fill cycle.
15. Remove each hose individually from the water valve one at a time.
16. Use a knive blade and remove the inlet screen from the water valve. Wash screen under slowly running water rubbing it clean with your fingers. Re install screen. Reconnect water hose.
17. Repeat step 16 for opposite hose and screen.
18. Turn on water supply.
19. Test for proper filling and water stopping by starting and stopping fill cycle.

If it works you got lucky. If you still have the problem you will need to change the water valve. Either one of these water valves will work on your machine:

WATER RUNS DOWN FREEZER WALL

SRCTE,  Are you certain that you installed a NEW water valve?  To isolate the problem between the ice maker and the water valve.  Remove the ice maker from the refrigerator.  Inspect the water fill tube for being stopped up with solid ice.  If so, clear the solid ice with a hair dryer blowing hot air into the end of the water fill tube.  Insert a long screw driver into the end of the water fill tube to break loose any remaining solid ice up in the tube.  Inspect with a flash lite to verify the water fill tube is clear and open.  Leave the ice maker out of the refrigerator overnite and operate the refrigerator as normally used.  After 6-8 hours, open the freezer door and inspect the end of the water fill tube; if the water fill tube is clear of solid ice then you have a bad ice maker which must be replaced.  If on the other hand the water fill tube has ice protruding from the water fill tube then the water valve is defected and must be replaced again.  If the water valve is replaced you may desire to install an external in line water filter. Hope this helps you.  Henry
