Tried EVERY combination of settings, still no change.

does this about 25% of calls.

Printer is set up as described in on-line manual.

Me too. I have the same issue. If someone calls and I answer it and the pritner is on, I can be on the phone the phone for about a minute and then the fax kicks in and drops my call. I have tried the various settings in the manual and have triple checked that the settings & wires are all set up correctly. It doesn't happen to every call though.

    Very frustrating!

I have the same problem. It happens on maybe 10% of my calls. The solutions presented basically say "try changing this or that" but that's not too definitive for finding a a solution especially when the problem is relatively infrequent. Anyone really know how to fix this?

I found this on Canon's website.

Remote RX If the fax interrupts telephone conversations after the initial sixty seconds that it uses to monitor for fax signals, change the Remote RX ID number. The default Remote RX ID number is 25. See the folloing steps to change the Remote RX ID number.

  1. Press the <FAX> button to enter the Fax menu.

  2. Press the <Menu> button.

  3. Press the left or right arrow to select [RX SETTINGS], then press <OK>.

  4. Press the left or right arrow to select [REMOTE RX], then press <OK>.

  5. Press the left or right arrow to select [ON] or [OFF], then press <OK>.

Note: The default setting is [ON].
    1. If [Remote RX] is set to [ON], a window will appear displaying the current REMOTE RX ID.
    2. Use the left or right arrow to select the preferred ID value (from 00 through 99).
    3. Press <OK> to set the ID.

  6. Press the <Fax> button to return to Fax standby mode.

If the fax continues to interrupt telephone conversations after the Remote RX ID number was changed, turn off Remote RX. The default setting from the factory is ON. See the folloing steps to turn off Remote RX.
1. Press the <Menu> button until [FAX SETTINGS] is displayed.
2. Use the [ mx300 fax / printer - left.gif] or [ right.gif] to select [RX SETTINGS] then press <OK>.
3. Use the [ left.gif]mx300 fax / printer - right.gifg src="http://i.fixya.net/uploads/images/right.gif" alt="right.gif" class="h_mi" />] to select [REMOTE RX] then press <OK>.mx300 fax / printer - left.gif 4. Use the [ left.gif] or [ right.gif] to select [OFF] then press <OK>.
5. Press <Stop/Reset>.

U051 error can i disable printer and use only scanner and fax canon mx300

Sadly not. The cartridge error will have to be resolved before you can use the scanner/fax. You do not however have to have a full cartridge installed, the printer just needs to be able to recognise the cartridge.

How can I use a networked Canon MX300 to send faxes from my PC?

You can use scan to email. Network or internet faxing is a dud.

You will have to have the software on your workstation.
