Question about Nikon Cameras

1 Answer

My Nikon D50 is giving me a message: CHR. I assumed that was that the battery needing charging... but it has not fixed the problem. I have confirmed that the problem is not the battery nor the charger. suggestions?

Try a different memory card. The CHR indicates that the camera cannot access the card.

Nikon D50 reading a Low Battery?

The SD card has nothing to do with your problem. Make sure that the battery is good; i.e., it is both taking and holding a charge. If you have a voltmeter, look at the back of the battery just under the three electrical contacts. You will see that they are labeled "-", "S" and "+". After charging the battery, measure between the "-" and the "+". It should measure 8 volts DC. Then measure between the "S" and "+" and it should also measure about 8 volts.
Next, you need to see if a short circuit in the camera is loading down or draining the battery. Put the battery in the camera. Keep the camera turned off and leave it overnight or for a day and remeasure the voltage. If it has dropped more than a 100 mv (0.1 volts) the problem may be with the camera. If that is the case, you will need to send it in for repair.

My D50 Nikon camera reads CHR I bought a new SD Card it is 4G can that to big

The D50 works with SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it will only work with devices specifically designed to accept SDHC cards. The D50 wasn't. It only works with SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

D50 gets CHR blinking and will not take a picture. Have tried another chip but it is still CHR.

Hello

Thank you for using FixYa for your problem

Always check the batteries first but if is it still giving the same fault, your camera is faulty.
It should be taken to an authorized repair centre for a repair estimate. Very few digital cameras have any user-serviceable parts.

Please rate our solutions and if you still have problems please call back for more ideas to help you

Flashes chr and won't fire

This can be caused by a badly connecting memory card, take it out and ensure its clean and connecting properly, also happens in cold climates, ensure the battery is fully charged. This is a comon problem with the D50

I have a Nikon D50 with an error message "CHA"

This error indicates the following:
This card cannot be used (CHR) blinks.
Problem(s)
Error accessing memory card
Unable to create a new folder (on card)
Card has not been formatted for use on D70

Try another card
Format the card using your D70 (all images will be erased)
Check the card for visible damage or poor contacts.

You may have inserted a memory card that was been used in a different camera or the formatting process did not complete successfully.
I hope this helps.

Nikon D50 blinking "Err" message

Make sure the lens is mounted fully (give it a little twist to see if the error clears). Also, check the gold contacts inside the body, where the body touches the gold "points" on the lens, to make sure they are clean. A pencil eraser is a good cleaning device for these contacts. I hope this solves it for you.
