Question about Epson Stylus Multifunction Inkjet Printer/ Copier/ Scanner

1 Answer

Will not print one colour

I purchased a new Epson DX4050 and have only used it to print a few B&W documents. However, today I have been trying to print some pictures and have discovered that the yellow cartrige is not printing. I have run tests and cleaned heads so many times that the ink has now run out from the original genuine cartriges. I tried changing to not genuine, but the same problem persists. Any solutions?????
This is my third Epson printer in the last twelve years and so far I have been delighted with them!
Thanks,
Keith

Dear chiefmecha I do thank you for your advise.
Two points: Firstly genuine cartridges are almost as expensive as the printer itself and I didnt get any use at all out of the first set of genuine cartriges!
Secondly and more importantly I now can not make the carriage go to the position to remove them.
The printer continues to work well in all colours except yellow. I press maintenence button and get message "Check ink levels or change cartridges". I press OK and a pictogram shows all cartridges to be full and message "OK Replace cartridges" I press OK and nothing happens? Please help this is so different from my old printer.
    Thanks again for your trouble,
    Keith.

Theres your first problem, restrain from using non original/genuine inks because it might lead to a more serious error in the future, one solutions you could do is to check the nozzle of the yellow ink, it is the pear shaped just where you insert the ink cartridges, check for clogs, there are about 4 to 6 holes, all of them should be clog free. try also cleaning the copper terminals, it is where the copper terminals of the cartridges meet, clean it with a cotton cloth, try NOT to touch them, specially with an oily hand. it is where the signals from the printer relays to the cartridge when to spray ink.

again try doing my suggestions, specially about checking the yellow nozzle, maybe its just clogged so the yellow ink doesn't function or emit ink.

I have an epson DX4050. I currently have a full blank ink cartridge but have one empty colour catridge and 2 other colour catridges which are running low. I want to photocopy a peice of document in black...

First, using B & W to copy a photo will cause large black blotches.

B & W are actually made up of shades of Black. To get the best quality for a B & W photo, switch to "Grayscale"

Next, is the black cartridge full? Are you using any type of refilled (absolutely worst possible choice) or a third party cartridge (second worst possible choice).

Epson Requires Genuine Epson Cartridges. !!!!!!!!

Hello, In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. That sounds like your problem. Also in Purchasing the Brother's . Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc.
These printers have a chip, that will detect if it is Generic or Genunie. When using Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, but you have to fill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......

I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. Don’t waste too much ink in cleaning it.

This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Thanks and Good Luck :0)

I just want to print a word document in black ink, but...........

Hi, this is not a solution because I don't think there is one apart from buying new inks. Epson and all other inkjet printers do this to prevent the coloured print head nozzles from getting blocked. If they are not used for a long time the ink dries up and blocks the nozzles. Epson recommends printing at least once a month with all colours to prevent this. Whenever the printer is turned on it performs a head clean, this is why the coloured inks get used over time even though they are not used for printing. ( Also Epson gets to sell you more cartridges)

Trying to print black only document

the problem with this printer is that all the inks have to be at a usable ink level, if any one of them are below the acceptable amount it will not print in any colour at all not even black.
