Dishwasher not filling up with water from the start

The issue was actually, water in the pan below the unit causing the float switch to be engaged and not allowing water to enter the dishwasher.. Solution: Shut the breaker off, take off the front cover of the unit. Then take off the kick plate cover (2 screws) below. You will then see the pan on the left side (with a flash light). Use a Turkey baster ~ to suction the excess water from the pan below. Replace the covers that you removed, reset breaker and start the dishwasher

Check where the door of the unit closes and seals. if there are water stains, a possibility is that the gasket maybe faulty or that the unit is not level.. Or as you mentioned the a faulty inlet valve. Another thought is the spinning sprayer in the middle of the unit ~ if that is restricted at all or not spinning freely. the sprayer could be spraying against the gasket protecting the seal and its giving way.. I hope that this helps

This is exactly what my SHU43 is doing, and yes, once I siphon the water out of the pan, it runs normally. However, I have to do this about once a week and it is getting worse. So what is causing this water to build up pan?

Sorry, I did not intend to offer a "solution" but to gain clarity about my issue. How can a restriction in the water supply cause too much water to be in the pan? I am getting too much water, not too little. Can the inlet valve slowly "leak" causing water to trickle in at all times?

There may be a restriction or bent water supply line.if there is no physical problems with the line then you may need to replace the water fill valve.make sure the main water supply is turned on

there can be a leak with the water fill valve.make sure to check the wiring to the fill valve and make sure there is no shorted wires causing current to be applied to the fill valve. you may need to replace the fill valve

Switch dishwasher on and starts up ok but when it comes to pumping water in it stops and does not do anything else.

Hello

Investigate these five areas if your dishwasher won't fill with water:

As water is filling your dishwasher, a float rises along with it. When the float reaches a predetermined level, it shuts off the flow of water, thereby preventing a leak. Sometimes the float can get stuck in the wrong position in your dishwasher, and it can prevent your dishwasher from filling. Check your float assembly. Replace it if you need to.

The water that fills your dishwasher lifts the float, and when it reaches a certain level, it acts as a trigger for the float switch. The float triggers the float switch to shut off, thereby shutting off the flow of water into the dishwasher. A defective switch may interfere with your dishwasher's filling ability.

Your dishwasher may not be filling with water simply because the water valve's filter screens are dirty and debris-filled. Gain access to your water inlet valve and try cleaning it out. This might be enough to solve the problem. You can learn how to access your water inlet valve in the replace a dishwasher water inlet valve section.

Alternatively, your water inlet valve could be defective altogether. That could be the reason your dishwasher is not filling. Test it for continuity. If it is not functioning as it should, replace it.

Your dishwasher's drain valve is regulated by a drain solenoid. If the solenoid is malfunctioning, it may not allow the drain valve to funtion properly, which in turn could be the reason your dishwasher is not filling with water. Investigate your drain valve and test the solenoid. If the solenoid is faulty, replace it.

My dishwasher seems to start ok then the first light starts flashing and it do'es nothing just stays there any ideads what my problem is

Can you tell if it's filling with water. The first thing it does is fill with water (usually on a timed cycle) before the pump starts. If there's no water in the tub, it obviously won't wash dishes, since a dishwasher is nothing more than an enclosed pressure washer. If it does not fill with water, you may have a bad fill valve or the timer that turns the fill valve on may be defective. You DO have the water turned on, RIGHT?

Dishwasher does not fill with water when started. Problem began slowly with dishes not rinsing completely. Overfill float appears to work properly. Water fills pipe leading to fill solenoid but does n

I am almost certain that your problem is the fill solenoid.

If it does not work, there will be no water entering your machine.

I would either remove it and test it or just replace it at this point.

Whirlpool dishwasher will not fill with water

turn the valves to the left if there the screw in type or parraell if the quick open type the first thing a dishwasher does when you start it is drain for a few minutes then stops then fills with hot water run the water as hot at the sink as you can before starting the washer there is a float in the tub that can shut the water valve off if its not seated on the safety switch after the drain at the start of cycles stops then you should hear the water valve open and start the fill let me know and we will go from there

Water not coming into dishwasher

Pour a bucket of hot water into the dishwasher (be careful not to overfill) then turn the dishwasher on. You'll probably have to wait a couple of minutes before it will start up. If it starts spraying water around inside the dishwasher, you have a bad fill valve and everything else is working properly. A fill valve is cheap and easy to install. You shouldn't even need to pull the dishwasher to replace the valve.
