    I have N73ME for 1.5 years. now it has developed this problem of switching itself off. the repair man said the PCB is damaged and he can try to fix it but with no guarantees

Sim card is corrupted,or it has been damaged to a point that it cannot be flashed or formatted any more. go for a new one.please.

Hi, I have the same problem with my N73. The local dealer told me the problem was there with some of nokia models including the N73. Seems they have a problem of compatibility between phone and hardware.

please do these tips :
insure that your SIM card working properly test it in another phone

if it work so clean the SIM card place , and test it while you push the battery to keep SIM in its place .

if that don't help try to software the device .

if that don't help so you must check about SIM driver(IC connect SIM base with CPU).

switch of your phone then press calling key (green button)+3+* and then switch on your phone. don't release the keys for an minute. then your phone will be formatted and it will be ok.

The problem of your Nokia N73 is very common. Try to change your battery to anew. If you have already reset to factory settings, and still the same, all you have to do is to bring your phone to Nokia Care Centre near you to further check the software error.

Formatting phone memory
Hey ok - Pls switch your phone off - then hold down * and 3 and green (answer) buttons, then get someone to power it on cos its alot of pressing! then keep holding and see where it takes you! Bingo!

Had the same problem too. :)

Scan the memory card for viruses by hooking it up with a computer. Then delete all viruses found. Then format the phone itself by:

To format:
  1. Turn phone off
  2. Hold the following keys WHILE it's turning back on: (3 + * + green call key)
  3. DO NOT let go till it asks you about your LOCATION
  4. DON"T forget to back-up all pictures and videos on the phone memory to the memory card before doing so
