What you say can be interpreted in 2 ways:
1 - you have removed all files from your player and now your music is gone. MP3 files = music files, if they aren't on the device it can't play them. Put them back.
2 - you have moved the files from your player to your pc and now they can't be played. Most likely they were renamed and the extension got changed - change it back to .mp3.
To make sure the files weren't corrupted try to play them using VLC
https://videolan.org/vlc/
this media player will play tracks whatever the extension so you will know if the files are good.

    You have made 2 mistakes:

1 - you have tried to use iTunes  - on Windows none the less - with another music player than iPod - they clearly state on their site that they don't guarantee the correct functioning in that case. Actually, if you read more closely on the EULA  (the legal paper that you clicked I approve during install) they are clearly warning you that it could end in tears. In your case it got corrupted by confusing commands - you can't keep the playlist and delete the files.
2 - you have assumed that the entries from your player lists are the same thing as the files - they're not;  you can have the same music file put in how many file lists you want. By removing the media you most likely deleted them all.
The only thing you should do is:
1 - find all of your music files from all over your pc. If you don't know where they are then start with the Trashcan  (the deleted ones might still be there)  My Music and the iTunes folder. Move them in a special folder you will create, arrange them alphabetically, delete all duplicates then  - if you want - arrange them by what you want in some new folders - i keep mine by artist and album.
2 - uninstall Itunes , manually wipe all remaining folders and run a system cleaner like CCleaner.
3 - connect your mp3 player to the pc - it will appear as a Removable media in Explorer - and wipe it clean.
4 - if you want to sync your player to your files from the pc you can do it manually - just drag and drop them. If you want another soft to help you then use WMP.  You can use iTunes again, but what has happened now can happen again at any time.

Try to reformat your degital media device and then copy all your songs back into the audio folder of your RCA MP3 player. It might had messed up due to the recent file changes and the path of the previous files were unaccessible thus making the device confused and unable to execute them.

Help?

Hi, you can try to upgrade the player's firmware, you can download it from the RCA Website (http://support.rcaaudiovideo.com/downloads.aspx?product=187), the firmware it's the second app listed.
If your computer doesn't recognize the player, you'll have to turn it off and keep "PLAY" pressed for 10 seconds while connecting it to the USB port, then update the firmware.
