Is it possible to back up just a few seconds when listening to a book on an ipod 2g? If so, how? When I push the back button, it starts clear back at the beginning of the chapter.

Hello,

If you play audiobooks on the iPod like any other type of audio file, but audiobooks (again, bookmarkable files), give you an extra option: go to the iPod’s Settings menu and select Audiobooks; this lets you choose a different speed for the playback. You can choose Faster or Slower if you want to change the speed of a droll or hyper reader; this plays the file back at a different speed, without changing the voice. You’ll notice some distortion, but in most cases this is not a problem.
You can also make this change as you’re listening to an audiobook. After it starts playing, press the Select button three times. Run your finger around the scroll wheel clockwise to change the speed to Faster; scroll the other way to return to Normal, or to change to Slower.

Take care.

  • Your answer did not apply to my question at all. If I am listening to a book and I missed what they said and I just want to repeat the last few sentences, how do I do that? Going into the settings and adjusting the speed just makes the reader speak faster or slower. I only want to repeat what they just said.

  • Never mind, I figured it out myself. I have to HOLD the back button down instead of just touching it.

You can reset it using iTunes. Open iTunes, plug the iPod in using USB, then turn of the iPod, once it's off hold down the home and lock buttons for 10 seconds, then release the lock button while continuing to hold the home button. After a few seconds iTunes should detect the iPod. Then you should be able to restore the iPod back to factory defaults. Even if you forgot the password.

There are a couple of things for you to try. First off just a couple of notes, the "Sleep Button" is the button on top of your iPod and the "Home Button" is the button on the front of your iPod. huntermaggar.jpg So to fix your problem you first need to restore it. But first we need to get iTunes to recognize it.
1.You can try restarting it by holding the sleep button and the home button until the whole iPod reboots. (Usually around 10 seconds)
  • After that try to plug your iPod into your computer again and try to restore it.
2. Try to put your iPod into "DFU" mode.
  • With your iPod powered off and plugged into your computer (plug it in and then power it off)
  • Hold the sleep button for 3 seconds.
  • While continuing to hold the sleep button, hold the home button and sleep button for 10 seconds.
  • Let go of the sleep button, but keep holding the home button for another 30 seconds.
After that your iPod should be in DFU mode which is factory settings and you should be able to use it with iTunes.
And the next time you want to downgrade it you should check out this video. This is what I used to downgrade my iPod touch 2g.

Good luck!

Forgot four digit personal code on ipod touch tried wrong ones now its says disabled how do i reset code number

  • Open iTunes and sign in. Plug the iPod in

  • 2

Let the program automatically synchronize, or "sync," with the iPod

  • 3

Hold down both the Power and Menu butons on the iPod for 10 seconds. These are the buttons located at the top left of the iPod and the lower center of the face of the iPod. The screen will go black, and then a symbol of a cable and a disc will appear, showing that it is in restore mode.

  • 4

Release both buttons. iTunes will automatically bring up a "Restore" button. Press the button.

  • 5

Wait until the restore process is complete

  • 6

Copy your files back onto your iPod from your backup on iTunes or just from the library if you did not back up the iPod first.

Iphone 2g not starting back up after reboot..

When the device is locked up like this hold down the lock and home buttons. After a few seconds the device will turn off, immediately let go of both buttons. Now press down and hold the home button. Hit the power/lock button one time. Continue holding the home button until the phone boots up. It will need to be connected to iTunes for recovery at this point.

My iphone 2g only shows the apple for 10 seconds then shuts down

    Try restoring it...here's how...
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Power off the device (Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the the iPhone or iPod touch to turn off.
    3. Press and hold the Home button while reconnecting the USB cable to iPhone. When you reconnect the USB to iPhone, the device should then power on.

Note: If you see the message "Charging... Please Wait" , let the device charge for at least 10 minutes to ensure the battery has some charge and then start with step 2 again.
    4. Continue holding the Home button while iPhone starts up. While starting up, you will see the Apple logo.
    5. When you see "Connect to iTunes" on the screen, you can release the Home button andiTuneswill display the recovery mode message:

If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, then disconnect the USB cable from iPhone and repeat steps 3-6.
After this you'll need to jailbreak it too....
