I had the same problem with my ipod video. My computer burnt out my device- I had to go get it replaced. Then I had to UNinstall Itunes, then re- install it by downloading the latest version of it.

Itunes with vista

From what I understand, iTunes is not recognizing the iPod, because Windows does not recognize it. Choose to install the driver, set it to search for a driver in "C:\Windows". It should find a USB Mass Storage Driver, an iPod Driver, and a USBusEnumerator. Choose the iPod Driver, and if that doesnt work, try the USB Mass Storage Driver, and then the USBusEnumerator. If Vista gives you a memory error, reboot your computer and try the iPod Driver again.

Do you have SP2? That should fix your drivers bit, but before I can advise you, I need to know If the Nano is not recognized by iTunes, or will iTunes not run at all?

Apple ipod problem

hi phipps42,
Theres a few things you can try:
1. Update to itunes 8
2. uninstall itunes, and reinstall it
3. can you access it while logged into an account? Out of an account?
If none of these work, download the Itunes vista patch fix here
iTunes and vista is like trying to stick a finger covered in alumiunum foil in the electrical outlet lol, vista is microsoft, itunes is apple. Rival OS companies.
Hope this helps.
