I lost my sound when installing Windows XP , The sound card is built-in , with motherboard , how can i regain it

This is an common problem people have when they reinstall Windows, but it's easily fixed. You don't have the drivers to use the sound card.

If you have a CD that came with your laptop when you got it that is labeled something like "Drivers and Utilities", get that out and run it, you can install the drivers from there. If you don't you can download them online.

I can't find the drivers for you since you didn't post your laptop model, but you can easily find them by searching for them on your manufacturer's website (for example, I have a Dell so I would go to and search for my laptop's model), as they usually have the drivers listed there. If you can't find them on your manufacturer's website, then just try a quick search on a search engine like Google that says (laptop model) (driver type).
For example, if I was searching for a sound driver for my laptop, I would type Dell Inspiron 1420 sound driver. This should provide all the drivers you need. If you are having other problems after reinstalling, such as not being able to connect to wireless networks, those can be usually fixed by drivers, too.

You can download the device drivers for your laptop from the laptop manufacturer's WEB site.
I cannot give you the link to the laptop manufacturer's WEB site because you have not provided me with the details of the make and model of your laptop.

It just keeps restarting over and over.

Hi !

You operating system is corrupted and needs to either repair or reinstall your operating system.

For repairing the operating system, you need operating system installer CD and when reparing, all the your software installed, document files and hardware drivers will still be there. But if your computer crashed because of virus attacked. It is not advisable to run the repair mode. Here is the link on how to repair the operating system

For reinstalling the operating system, all the software will be wipe out including your hardware drivers and document files will be losted. So be sure you have all the hardware drivers of your computer like chipset driver, LAN driver, VGA driver, Sound driver and others. Here is the link of how to reinstall your Windows XP operating system For other like vista and windows 7, it is somehow the same procedure.

I hope it helps you and thank you for using FixYa !

Too slow to run to PC

you need to: 1 backup any documents you want to save 2 download powermax (low level format utility) - - download and burn to cd >>> powermax-4.09.iso
3 have a copy of windows w/ valid serial key - also have discs for any other programs you will need to reinstall (ms office, virus protection, etc...) 4 dowload and run win driver expert ( backs up all your drivers) - - save the backup of the drivers to a cd or flashdrive - i suggest you save the actual program to the flashdrive or cd as well AFTER you have done all that: insert the powermax cd into the laptop or cpu and boot it up. Run powermax (you are formatting the main drive) insert your windows cd and reboot cpu (install windows) reinstall your drivers reinstall your applications and virus software - remember DONT go online to do updates until you installed the virus scan software and updated the virus definitions ( u dont want to have to do this all over again because of a virus, lol)

Sound card

Dear Loreerupe,

This sounds like a corrupted software file. Please use your installation disk and reinstall the sound driver file. This will overwrite the corrupted files and upon the machine rebooting you will have gained sound operation again.

Unfortunately you dont state the model/maker/windows operating system and cannot help any further with instructions/manuals/driver files.

I hope you can fix this,
Please dont forget to rate this solution if you found it usefull.
