First of all you need to do a free online virus scan. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ is one of the top rated and last time I checked it also removed the threats for free. You may also google for other free online virus scans, there are plenty of good ones that do not charge for virus removal. Next visit http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/TaskManager_Reset.reg and save this file to your desktop or somewhere else that you will remember it is. Exit your running programs, run this file (clicking yes to accept entry to be entered into registry) and then reboot. Now try to run task manager, with any luck it should be restored. If this did not work you may try repeating in safe mode, but this of course will only work if you can access the net in safe mode, it differs depending on connection type. The main site of http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com has numerous fixes for most any problem, you should search here if there are any other problems. Good luck, hope this may help =\ -TLCM

Booting problem

Restart your computer
have a close look at the screen it will be quick you will see which key to press to enter bios

During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup usually the Delete or F2 key

this will vary depending on your computer and operating system

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS using the arrow keys load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart

hope this helps

Gateway/vista black screen with no ctrl+alt+del but a nice cursor

Try this, before it boots up and just after in posts press F8, it should bring up a page where you can choose your boot option, choose "Safe Mode", if the computer does boot to safe mode there are a few steps you can do to remedy this.

First goto my computer, c:drive/windows and scroll down to a folder called prefetch open the folder, highlight everything in that folder by left clicking once on one of the icons and holding control(ctrl) then pressing A once everything is highlighted hold down the shift key and press delete, everything should now be gone, exit out of all the windows do a disk clean up, my computer right click on c:drive (your main drive) and click on disk cleanup tick all boxes and then click ok to start deleting the temp files. once finished reboot mechines and leave it to boot up. if you still are having problems or it wont boot up into safe mode post back. cheers.

Ctrl + Alt+Del

Hi

is it a usb keyboard or a ps2(round connector) keyboard? the problem is most likely that due to the computer not having started up properly the keyboard is not properly configured / installed by windows.

to get rid of this problem, you need the old type of keyboard, turn off the computer, and plug in a keyboard to the ps2 connector.

green one is for the mouse, the other is for the keyboard, plug in a keyboard, then turn the computer on, you should be able to press CTRL+ALT +DEL now and ones you sign in to the computer it should install the usb keyboard and it should work from now on, just make sure the keyboard is not disconnected or port changed when the power is off from the computer that cause the configuration loss.

Taskmanager disabled by your administrator

Click on start then run
Type gpedit.msc then ok
Click + on administrative templates
Click + on system
Click on CTRL ALT DEL options
over to the right double click on remove task manager
Click on disabled then apply then ok
You will now have back taskmanager
This is normaly caused by malware you should if you havent already run an anti malware scan.
Malware Bytes is an excelent example of a scanner and is located here: www.malwarebytes.org get the free trial version its great.

Icon flickered and then the blue screen appeared with no icons how do we use w/ no icons

Do a Ctrl - Alt Del. If the taskmanger comes on you can go to File, New Task and type explorer. If no task manager then you're missing files. Reboot into Safe mode (F8 when b4 Windows starts). Then go to Start, Run and type SFC /scannow. It will probably ask for the original systems disk.

Good luck
