I assume the fault is physical/hardware, not in the software.
Since it's embedded in the motherboard you can't fix it. the only thing you can do is to disable it from the BIOS and add an USB LAN adaptor like

How the change ethernet port on my t43 thinkpad

To change the Ethernet port you need you open up everything and tell some technician who can repair mother board.
But still i'll not suggest you to do that because after repairing mother board you never know when you might get some other problem too.
So i'll suggest you to buy and use USB to Ethernet converter which is Cheap and easy to use also.

My Ethernet Lan port is not in Hp model Compaq nx6115

If you ethernet port is broken or just not working and you are having no luck changing the settings then an easy fix is to get an adapter card. Some even have a couple USB ports on them also besides the Lan port so it is actually an upgrade.

The tab on the ethernet port has broke off so the cable will not stay in. How do I remove it from the laptop Tough book CF 52 to repair it

Hi,

The NIC (ethernet port) is part of the laptop motherboard. To fix something like that you will have to be good at micro soldering.

I find it strange that there is a tab on the port itself, the locking tab's are usually on the RJ-45's (ethernet) cables themselves like in this picture>>>>

I have a netgear wireless adsl modem gateway dg824m which i am using to crate a wireless sinal that i can recieve in different rooms. I am running this direct from an ethernet socket in the wall, one...

Is this a four port device? Please tell me what cables you have in the back of the router. There should be at least ....

1 x ADSL
1 x PSU (External power)

If you are connecting via wireless you do not need ethernet cables. If you want to use wired ethernet you would only need one CAT5 (or similar spec) between one of the spare ports on the router connected to the eth0 port on your PC/Laptop.

Fire up a DOS window on the PC and type "ipconfig -a". This should report that the PC has a valid IP address from the router in the format 192.168.0.x. If so you should be able to ping the router.

ping 192.168.0.1

If *this* works then you should be able to put the IP address into a browser and get the admin screen up.

Cheers,
Ripface.

Connect ethernet cable

It sounds like you are setting up your new laptop to connect to your cable modem. If that is correct, your laptop should only have one ethernet port. The other port should be for the modem, but it does look very similar to the ethernet port. I would highly suggest getting an inexpensive router to place between your laptop and your cable modem. The routers come with detailed instructions on how to connect it to the cable modem and the computer. This will provide 2 things for you. The first is ease of connection, and the second is protection from all of the bad stuff on the Internet.

Broken Ethernet Port

You say "your Ethernet Port" (= LAN port)
If unavailable try using any USB to rj45 adapter and you can use any USP port.

Ethernet Port

unless you don't mind voiding your warranty, the only other way to fix it, is to crack open the case of the console, and force the ethernet port back into position, though I strongly suggest against this, since you could easily break something inside of the case and cause a far wose problem. The only other soultion is to dropa a couple hundred bucks for the wireless reciever, and get on the internet that way. Otherwise the best option is to send it to microsoft for repair.

Toshiba Satellite ethernet port disappeared...

I think you have answered your own problem, your wireless has possibly been zapped.
To test your ethernet adapter on your laptop connect it to a network hub, check the hub and see if you have a link light on the hub and or laptop..
To test your wireless router, connect it to a known working computer with a network card and check the router configuration, using the browser, if you cannot access it then its zapped.

Broken Ethernet Adapter

They sell USB to Ethernet adapters that you can use. If you want to replace the adapter yourself you will have to strip the laptop down to the mother board, then proceed to de-solder then solder the new one back onto the board. You can but the replacement piece from either http://sparepartswarehouse.com if they have your make and model, or you can get it from your laptop's distributer.
