SOURCE: Dishwasher isn't draining

It could be the pump, but not only. Check first that you don't have any clog in the drain line. If drain line is clean, open machine's rear panel and : - Look if the pump works. If it doesn't work check that pump get power (with multi-meter). In case it get power (and does't work), it should be replaced. - In case the pump works - The machine has a drain valve with an electric solenoid (the drain pipe connected to it). When it get power the valve opens and diverts the water to the drain line. Test that it get power. In case it get power and dosen't work - You can easyly open the valve and clean it (from scale or other dirt). Be aware you should disconnect the power cable from machine before doing it !!!!! Check as well for valve's coil resistance. In case you have no resistance measurement - you should replace for a new valve. Good luck !

SOURCE: GE Max Dishwasher won't drain

open the door and look inside the dishwasher,at the bottom you should see a screen/screens.check for any clogs at them.also check the wash arm holes for obstructions.inspect the wash arms for cracks at the seams.run the unit and try to determine the water level on the initial fill, try to notice after a couple of cycles the level stays the same.let me know.

SOURCE: ge potscrubber 640 dishwasher

You probably have a restricted water inlet valve. It is not allowing the proper rate of flow for the allotted time, therefore not giving enough water to create the proper velocity to reach the top rack.

Dishwasher washes dishes but does not dry even though that display shows dry icon

First ,Check for a water puddle on the bottom of the dishwasher .If you have water there, you more than likely have a plugged drain or drain hose, or bad drain pump (less likely) If no water is there see if the dishes are hot after a cycle. If they are not you could have a bad heater (that circular thing on the bottom of the dishwasher) other problems could be the timer or computer Depending on the model brand and age of the dishwasher .One last thing there is a vent to let moisture escape that could be bad but then you would have hot wet dishes

The problem is hard water. There is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. It filters the water before it enters your dishwasher. It works amazing and has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look after the first load. It is also very affordable (like 70 bucks). Go to www.dishwasherfilter.com to find out more info.

When I turn on my dishwasher it apparently washes the dishes but won't dispose of the water. Why? It's a Whirlpool Model #DU910PWKQ0

Check to make sure your discharge hose isn't clogged.Makes sense that if your machine is washing, then your pump is operating fine, just not removing the water.Check the drain input under your sink that it isn't clogged also.

GE Quiet Wash 3, top arm does not spin

It sounds like you don't have enough water. Your water inlet valve may be not letting in enough water or the plastic pump inlet screen located on the bottom of your dishwasher had something blocking it.
  1. Check to see if there is something blocking the plastic screen on the bottom of your dishwasher.
  2. When your dishwasher is in the final cycle add a pot of hot water to the dishwasher and see if your dishes come out cleaner.
If the dishes come out cleaner you may need a new water inlet valve.

Does not pump water. Leaves dishes soappy

We really need your model number to help you properly. In the mean time you can check you sink connection and air gap for obstructions. Usually the cover just pulls up and off then you unscrew the cap to expose the drain tube for the dishwasher. More often than not if the unit fills and washes but leave soap on the dishes a clogged drain line is the problem. You may have to run something down the drain tube to clear it. Usually you will see the obstruction when you remove the cap. There is a remote possibility if it drains into a garbage disposal that food particles have clogged the drain outlet inside the garbage disposal. Hope this resolves your problems. Cheers!

My new ge dishwasher let my glasses and dishes uncleaned

I had a similar problem. Mine was leaving hard water deposits on my dishes. He had me take all of the metal out of the dishwasher (silverware, pots and pans, etc. Then run about 3/4 of a cup of Santeen de-limer through it. IT would clean the inside of the dishwasher nice, and would fix the problem. Unfortunately the hard water deposits would come back after a month or so, but would again be cleared by the Santeen...

Will not reset or drain water

HI, usually, if the dishwasher dose not drain properly, it will be the fault of a defective or, malfunctioning pump. i will list several problem areas to check. Inspect each area properly and, replace any component that is faulty or fouled.

1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

2. Broken belt
Some dishwasher models use a belt to drive the pump. Replace the belt if found broken.

Note: Sometimes the belt would just come off the pump. Even though it might not be broken, it is recommended that you replace the belt, because it is probably too stretched out.

3. Pump
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller, takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.

4. Drain solenoid
Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid to drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful, you might have to replace the pump assembly.

5. Motor
If the motor is stuck, it is sometimes possible to free it up by manually spinning the motor.

Replace the motor if defective.

6. Timer or control board
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

GE Dishwasher

It could be a pump issue. The dishwasher has a motor that attached to a pump which forces the water up into the sprayer arms and during the drain cycle,it pushes the water out of the dishwasher. The motor and pump are located beneath the dishwasher. Look if the pump's impeller (a round plastic fan blade-type of device) spins around freely. In case it doesn't spin freely, look if it doesn't blocked or stuck from any other reason. Good luck!
