Your question is a bit unclear regarding motherboards as there is no such switch. Even if you are talking about laptop motherboards and if i assume that you want to run your laptop only on the charger and not on the battery, even then there is no such switch. You just need to remove the battery from your laptop.

If this is not what you are asking about then please leave a comment and clarify the situation.

07 dodge ram 1500 did not come equipment with fog lamps so I order after market ones and wirning harness and no power going to lights

Not sure I understand your question.
Since around 2001 car makers have switched to having the headlight switch act as the ground instead of power source to the headlights. Some also use a relay for power.
So you would need to find a power source controlled by the key, connect a relay to battery power, and turn the relay on with another switch going to ground. Or use the extra switch to power the relay from the key. Relays use two sources for power, one for ground, and the fourth terminal goes to the device you are powering such as the fog lights.

Vtech InnoTab2 will not turn on. Using adapter instead of batteries. May turn on briefly but then shuts off. Does same with fresh batteries. Only 1 year old.

try this: remove batts and all power source. remove cartridge. press and hold power button for 30 seconds. place batts back in the toy and try turning it on.

Changed starter and ignition switch on 350 with HEI, I lost all power from switch and it shorts the battery to completely dead. I got the problem from someone else who installed the motor. It is in a 68...

Not sure I follow you. Are you going to rewire the key switch power source back to the starter post ?
And the truck is actually a 1968 instead of a 1986 ?

What to check if it wont turn over does nothing

Start at the battery. Check for clean, tight connections. Any chance it is discharged? It needs to be at lest 12.6 volts on a voltmeter to be ready to start the car.
Is there power from battery to the ignition switch? Turn key on. Do warning lights and gauges come on? And accessories work? Then there is power to the switch. If nothing, start checking fuses and fusible links that pass power from battery to the switch.
An electrical circuit is a complete electrical path from a power source to an electrical load to ground, and back to the power source-the battery. The starting circuit is just such a circuit. From the battery to the key switch to a relay or switch (neutral safety switch) or two, to the starter, and then to ground-back to the battery. If the key turns power on, one could next see if power is getting to the starter solenoid, mounted on the starter. The small wire to the solenoid should have power to it when the key is held in crank position. Use a test light or voltmeter to check for power there. If has power, likely the starter or solenoid is bad. You then need to take it off and have it tested-a free service at most parts stores. If no power is getting to the solenoid, but the ignition switch has power, further testing of the start circuit will have to be done -the clutch switch (or neutral/park switch if automatic trans.), the starter relay, and whatever else is in your starting circuit.
If car has an alarm system, make sure it is not activated, so the immobilizer function is not causing a no start.
Good luck. Post back with results.

How to turn power on?

There's usually a switch somewhere on the back panel. The switch may say "I/O" instead of "on/off" (I = on, O = off). The switch has no effect unless the device is plugged into an electrical outlet or equivalent power source. If the device is plugged in, you may turn it on with the switch.

Dual MXD55 W/6/5 SP CD Problems

make sure the speaker grounds are connected to the speaker ground wires on the deck and not the "chassis" ground. also make sure both power wires are hooked up to a power source. the thinner power wire is supposed to be a switched source (like the ignition key or an accessory switch) that turns the unit on and the thicker one is a constant source which actually powers the deck once the switched source is turned on.
