My shutter locks up at Manual Mode only

I have Evolt E510. Just recently my camera shutter just locks everytime in manual mode. But in program, it's okay. Is there any way to remedy this by myself? - David Perico - brodave_88@yahoo.com

SOURCE: long delay on oly evolt 510 before taking picture in P,A,M modes

When operating any digital camera, the camera tries to capture the best focus and exposure for that particular scene. By pressing the shutter button half-way down, the focus and exposure is being set. There will be a green circle on the upper left hand corner of the screen, then your camera is ready to take the picture. Slowly depress the shutter the rest of the way down to take the picture.

Why is my manual Mode setting isn't working

The NIGHT SCENE and NIGHT+PORTRAIT scenes are meant to take time exposures of skylines and city streets by leaving the shutter open for several seconds. Therefore, it is necessary to stabilize the camera by bracing it against something solid or - ideally - by using a tripod or camera clamp.

so play around with the shutter speed and bring it to above 100
The procedure is as follows:
  1. Set the camera's Mode Dial to the M (Manual) shooting mode.
  2. Using the Control Dial(big wheel), set the shutter speed to 100.
  3. Holding +/- button and turning the control dail will change focal length.
  4. Play around a bit with this too utill you find right lighting for the image you need.
  5. Remember slower shutter speed needs long time to process the image

What type of exposure system does it have?

The N2000 has Program, Program Hi, Aperture-priority, and Manual exposure modes, with exposure lock and exposure compensation capabilities. It can TTL auto and manual with flash. The meter is full-aperture and center-weighted.
The Program mode sets both the shutter speed and aperture for optimum exposure. You can adjust the exposure if you want to emphasize shutter speed or aperture. The Program Hi mode tries to set a higher shutter speed for action and/or long lenses.
You can download a copy of the manual here if you want to know more about this camera.

I'm guessing you have a delay set (people will use this on a tripod). The small button on the top left (next to the flash control) will solve your problem I think.

Shutter priority mode?

s I understand it from what I have seen on the Web, the 3000Z can operate in several modes: 1. Fully automatic (camera select both 2. Manual (user sets both aperture and shutter speed). 3. Aperture Priority mode - user sets aperture and camera chooses correct shutter speed to get a good exposure Apparently there is no Shutter Priority mode (user cannot set only the shutter er speed and allow the camera to set the aperature to get a good exposure). This option is available on the Epson 850Z camera and this seems like a silly ommision to make on a "high-end" camera like the 3000Z.

Focus modes

There are four focus modes: S-AF (Single auto focus), C-AF (Continuous auto focus), MF (Manual Focus), and S-AF/MF (Simultaneous mode). (SINGLE Auto Focus): Focusing is performed once when the shutter button is pressed halfway. C-AF (CONTINUOUS Auto Focus): The camera repeats focusing while the shutter button is pressed halfway. (MANUAL FOCUS): The function allows you to manually focus on any subject while looking through the viewfinder. SIMULTANEOUS USE of S-AF mode and MF mode: You can fine-adjust focus manually by turning the focus ring after AF is performed in the S-AF mode.
