Question about Epson Perfection V500 Flatbed Scanner

1 Answer

I purchased an Epson Perfection V500 scanner in the US. I then brought to Australia. I thought it was dual voltage, but it turns out it is not. I plugged it in, turned it on, and nothing happened. So basically it was exposed to 220 V when it is supposed to run on 110 V. Is it irreparably fried? Is it even worth trying to get fixed?

Well, without a real test I would say ït could be fried!

If you smell
1. Burned wire smell
2. Burn eletronic smell
Then you betcha its not even going to be worth a fix simply because the supply is gone so is everything else. There are no aprent fixable parts in these. I would have suggested you brought a converter they do sale them. But it may be too late, but who know try to find someone with a converter if it does not turn on its gone simple as that.

Try shutting down your computer and then unplug from the power source. Wait a minute then plug it back in and turn on the computer.

Accept the driver installation even though it does not pass Windows Logo testing. Just accept it and continue with the installation.

Did you check the fuse in the plug? If so maybe make sure there is no actual problem with the wiring within the plug.

WANT TO DOWNLOAD A USER MANUAL FOR THE EPSON V500 SCANNER

Epson Perfection V500 installed. My computer recognizes it and diagnostic note says all okay. B ut when I turn on the power of the scanner, the grren light comes on in the front for about 15-20 seconds and then the scanner makes a loud grating noise and the green light turns orange and keeps flashing. No scan is attempted. TGhe noise sounds like something that should be moving can get started -- but nothing moves when you look at it. Should I take it back where I bought it?
