By clean boot, do you mean cold boot. if not, please follow instructions here to perform a cold boot.

Ok, i have been advised about the clean boot. so if the above doesn't work, then You need to download the CleanBoot tools from devzone.symbol.com. It's
in the WinCE bit of the 'Developer Downloads' section.

Let me breif the steps i followed to do clean boot

I have downloaded the windows mobile 6.1 clean boot files from

    http://support.symbol.com/support/search...

Then i exracted the contents and copied it in SD card and inserted it to the PDA.

I did the hard reset by holding the keys 1 , 9 and power button simultaneously. Before the flash screen comes up, i pressed the scan yellow button.

It took me to another screen which has two options
    1. update loader
    2. boot loader

By default update loader was chosen. So i released the yellow trigger key.

Now it came to the warm boot screen and hangs up. It doesn't seem working.

Kindly help me to troubleshoot this issue.

    Thank you

Active sync

Hello,

Depending on your OS, you'll need Windows Mobile Device Center 32-bit or 64-bit. ActiveSync is for Windows XP machines;

Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center 6 1 for Windows Vista 32 bit

Windows Mobile Device Center 6 1 Driver for Windows Vista 64 bit

Boot sd card

Hi Scott,

Unfortunately, you can't export the firmware from a Motorola/Symbol device to SD Card or a computer via USB (I would love to be able to do that but you cant as far as I know...)

You will have to re-install the required OS on the new PDA and install the applications you need via windows mobile center.

Thanks

Windows mobile password reset

Hi Sam,

Probably requires a re-install of the OS via SD Card.

Get the required files and hold 1 + 9 and click the red power button which will reset the device, then hold the left barcode scanner trigger to load bootloader and run the files from the SD Card.

Thanks
Jay

Could you tell me what has to be done when the only item appearing on the screen is MC70?

Resetting the EDA

There are two reset functions, warm boot and cold boot. A warm boot restarts the EDA by closing all running
programs. A cold boot also restarts the EDA, and also resets the clock. Data saved in flash memory or a memory card is not lost.
Perform a warm boot first. If the EDA still does not respond, perform a cold boot.

Performing a Warm Boot - Soft reset

Hold down the Power button for approximately five seconds. As soon as the EDA starts to boot release the Power button.

Performing a Cold Boot - Hard reset

To perform a cold boot simultaneously press the Power button and the 1 and 9 keys.

Perpetual loading, extremely slow. Symbol MC70 Scanner

To get the device back to factory settings is the cold boot not enough. You would need to download the clean boot files from suport.symbol.com, the files for Windws Mobile 5 unit are located here http://support.symbol.com/support/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=ReleaseNotesforMC70XXCleanBootFileshtm&sliceId=&dialogID=191034578&stateId=1%200%20191036040
The instrictions are provided in the zip file.

How do i completely rest the mc70

you need to use a piece of software from motorola, follow the link below and download "MC70cleaners"
http://support.symbol.com/support/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=11744&sliceId=&dialogID=175684178&stateId=1%200%20175682106
unzip it onto the root of an SD card, put SD card in EDA,press power +1+9 together after 20 seconds release them, press top right button, updater will start, u need the mains plugged in, after it has finished it will boot into windows mobile.

M7094 Warm Boot Error

Go to devzone.symbol.com, then click on the "Click here to enter Support Central" link. From there enter "clean boot" in the search box and select "Mobile Computers" in the Product Line drop-down and MC70 in the Product drop-down. Then click "Go". When the results are displayed, choose to sort by "Most recent" instead of "Most relevant". Then the first entry will be the clean boot files for if your device is running WM 6.1, and the one that's about 5 entries down will be the clean boot files for if your device is running WM 5.0.

Questions:

Have you tried the classic "hard boot"?

Do you have a WAN or LAN radio configuration?
Has the device worked for you in the past ... and no will not?

Until you answer my questions and I get back to you you might try pulling the battery out for 10 min or so... see if it reboots when you reinstall it
