Question about Epson Stylus CX5800F All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Not Printing I have been away from home for a few months and on return tried printing. That failed so I replaced the Ink Cartridges. Subsequent attempts atr printing also failed. Now when I try 'Test Print' I get no ink on paper. I have tried the 'Clean Print Head' functions a few times but there is no change. Is the extended lack of use likely to have blocked the Print Heads and is there anything I can do?

Most likely not. Some internet shops sell inkjet "solvents" which you put into empty cartridges & run, but it's effectiveness is questionable.
If the print head & the ink tank are separate units (which I must assume since you just replaced the cartridges), then you will have to replace the print heads (the cost of which may exceed buying a new cheap printer.)
If the additional expenses are not worth it & you're ready to throw the darn thing away, then you can try one thing as a last resort before trashing it. Take the print heads out. Place on a cotton cosmetic pad. Dampen the pad with alcohol (not the drinking kind). Leave for days on end & pray. If you're lucky, the jets may unclog. Most likely, not.
Sorry.

Your cap and wiper assembly has build up on it. The cap and wiper assembly is the part of the printer that keeps you ink cartridges clean but after a while it accumulates a lot of dried up ink and dirt / dust. If you open up your printer and get the carriage assembly to slide over, unplug the printer and look inside where the cartridges just came from. The wiper assembly looks like a little rubber windshield wiper and works much in the same way. Some models have as many as four wipers. You can use a q tip with some alcohol on it to rub the wipers clean and get off all the ink. After cleaning all the wipers off re-run the printers cleaning cycle a few times and the lines should go away.

The Ink at the head of your Printer Cartridges has dried up.
Try this:

Load some plain paper in the printer

Remove the cartridges from the printer and carefully dab the print heads of the cartridges with a damp paper towel. ( when you start to see ink, the ink is starting to flow).

Replace the cartridges into the printer.

Go to:

Start
Control Panel
Printers
RIGHT click on this printer
choose Printing preferences
services
clean print cartridges 9some papers may print)
follow the instructions and do the heavier cleaning as well

Run the calibration function and allow the paper to print.

Printer only won't print in black

My printer did that a few months ago. I tried everything to get it printing black but in the end I had to take the ink cartridge back and return a new one. Some ink cartridges dry out when they are being shipped if not stored in proper conditions.

Epson CX 4300 printing problem

This can happen to cartridges with attached print heads. All cartridges are weighed and tested before leaving the factory so lack of ink isn't the problem. It usually has to do with the print head of the cartridge not having any ink to feed it. This happens because cartridges are kept flat or upside down for weeks or months before being used and the ink settles away from the print head. The easiest remedy is to open the box and stand the cartridge upright for a few minutes before using. Then get a damp paper towel, fold it into quarters and sit the cartridge print head down onto it. Hold the cartridge down to the damp paper towel for three minutes. This will help pull the ink out of the print heads, priming them and getting them ready to print. Finally, install the cartridge into your printer and print a few test pages.

After being abroad for 3 months i can home to find printer not printing correctly i replaced the 5 ink cartridges but only 2 working Black and cyan

The ink has dried in the print head. If the print head comes out, remove it and apply rubbing alcohol or water with a paper towel to the nozels to disolve the ink. Once the ink seems to be fluid, replace the print head and ink cartridges, do a head cleaning and try printing again.

If the print head cannot be removed, get a childs medicine syringe, draw in some rubbing alcohol. Remove the non printing carts and apply a couple of small drops of alcohol to each ink port on the print head. apply some more drops to the ink port of the carts and replace and try a head cleaning and print.

If this does not work, continue to ask for help. The aim is to save the print head, not buy a new printer.

No ink on page

Clean the contact in the housing area and on the ink cartriage. If that does not work buy a new cartriage. The ink probably dried up in the nozzles. You can place the ink cartriage on a wet paper towel water or alcohal and press the cartriage into the towel. If you see no ing replace.

Wants to print but won't put ink on paper

I'm experiencing the same problem. I tried to troubleshoot through software that came with printer, but no luck. Here's what happens:

The printer worked great for a month or so. Then, I didn't use it for a few months. When I tried to use it again, it acts like it's printing. My computer shows it's printing, the printer runs through all the steps, including moving the print cartridges back and forth over the paper as it should, but no ink comes out on paper.

Any suggestions?

Photo printing problems

Try to manually clean the printer head. Take a cotton cloth and dab a little bit of alcohol (like whiskey) and then clean the printer head & the cartridges with it. Do remember it is a delicate process and if you messup, you might damage the printer/cartridges. So be careful & lemme know the result.
