With this refrig there are two fans one for the freezer and one for the refrig. the freezer one is kinda a pain you have to pretty much take everything out of the freezer. if you look at the freezer back wall it sits right behind the lights. the refrig fan is a little easier start by taking all the shelves out and you will see the baffle assy that goes along the back wall and on top. the bottom part of the baffle with slide down and you will see two screw. now for the top take the light cover off and then you should see two screws on each side. unscrew those and then and take down the bracket and the you should be able to pull the baffle assy down that holds the refrig fan. let me know if you need a video

GE REFRIGERATOR FAN AND COMPRESSOR DOES NOT WORK, BUT LIGHTS TURN ON.

  • Unplug the power cord of the refrigerator
  • Locate the fan plug (usually next to the water valve), unplug it
  • Try to spin the fan blade by your finger, if it has too much friction, lube it with small motor oil (sewing machine oil etc)
  • Clean up all accumulated dust.
  • Plug it back, it should work (fan motor is thermally protected so it won't burn out)

My GE GSS22SGMBBSCC side by side refrigerator does not cool the upper freezer portion

Most newer GE fridges have dc fan motors controlled by a computer board. Sometimes the board just fails and sometimes the fan can cause the board to fail.
