Try a hard start kit. If no success, replace compressor.

My Kenmore Coldspot Mod 106.9651810 refrigerator start a loud buzzing noise.

Hi,

Sounds like your relay to your compressor has failed, but before you start buying parts has your unit failed to cool? If so you may want to look into the overload to the compressor. If this has failed the unit will fail to cool. If not the issue please get me more information as to status, temperatures etc..

Thanks in advance, good luck

Amana side by side model ars9167ab buzzing noise in or near compressor.

if you're hearin the buzzing noise followed by a click, about every 10-15 minutes, then it could be your starting relay on the compressor. The part number for the relay is 2319793.

Amana refrigerator/freezer started making a buzzing noise and stopped working. Inside lights do work, but nothing cools.

based on your description i would guess that the start relay on the compressor has failed or the compressor it self is the buzz you are hearing... if the noise would come and last for 5-20 seconds and then stop or click sound made then that is the compressor trying to start but kicking out on overload. it usually after sometimes a few minutes or sometimes in thirty minutes will try again once the compressor gets hot enought it may take longer.. you will have to gain access to rear of unit and on compressor is a relay that may have failed. make a drawing of the wires and remove sometimes (2) seperate pieces see if it rattles or smells burnt. if so get you a new relay and may have caught it early enough to not have done any other damage... repost with anymore questions good luck to you...
ps there are several web sites to order the parts online or go to a local appliance store...

My air conditioner is on but not blowing cold air and buzzes

The compressor is not starting. The buzzing noise you hear is the compressor trying to start and then the thermal overload trips. When it cools it will try to start again. Could be a bad capacitor or the compressor is bad. These two units need to be tested to see which one is bad. A capacitor is inexpensive. If it's the compressor it will be cheaper to buy a new AC.

Whirlpool upright freezer making buzzing noise and not working

I had a similar problem yesterday. I woke up and the freezer was not working anymore. It would make a buzzing noise and then it would click and shut off. I looked online for some possible solutions. Here is what I did:
I unplugged the fridge. I pulled it out and took off the cardboard backing. I used an air compressor to blow out all of the dust and dirt that had accumulated on the condenser coils. A shop-vac just wasn't powerful enough to pull out all of the dust/dirt. After that, I plugged it back in....and the same thing was happening. It would buzz, and then it would click off. I figured out that the "click" was coming from a starter relay (a small plastic piece attached to the big black compressor). I detached the plug from the relay and then detached the relay from the compressor. The relay was burned out. It turns out this is a common problem with the relay. I replaced the relay for $50 (from an appliance parts store) and put the whole thing back together in about 10 minutes.
I plugged the fridge back in and the compressor started, and now the freezer works better than other. I saved about $400 doing it myself, all in about one hour. And better yet, my wife was very impressed. Not bad for a doctor.

Buzzing noise -Kyoto KU 9577 Freezer

you may have a bad compressor or a bad compressor relay. The buzzing noise sounds like the compressor trying to start but can't. Unplug the unit and pull the relay off the compressor. If it rattles like gravel in side it replace the relay. If it doesn't then you may need to call a repairman to check the compressor. Hope this helps.

My refrigerator buzzes for 5 or so seconds then

the buzzing noise your hearing is possibly your compressor trying to start up. this is generally a buzzing for 5-7 seconds followed usually by a click noise if it goes on for several hours you will notice the temps in the unit starting to rise. for alot of may tags with the tecumseh compressor the compressor had to be replaced. if it has an embraco compressor you can just replace the start relay on the compressor. let me know what you find thanks Peyton

I hear a buzz sound for 5 seconds when compressor starts.

The grommet simply holds the start relay in place.  Unless it is torn, you won't need it.  Likely the start relay.  The buzzing is possibly the relay contacts on the start relay burning if the problem occurs when the compressor starts...although it could be the compressor making noise as well.  You might try to "hear it out".  The start relay gives a boost to the compressor by adding in another winding inside to 'kick' the compressor.
If all you hear is the buzz, you might just wait a bit to see what fails!

Problem has returned to Maytag fridge

I note this is a very old post. The compressor is not starting and what you were hearing was the PTC relay energizing followed by the KilXon thermal overload kicking off the compressor start sequence. What happens is that the PTC relays sometimes get a heated contact. Due to the weakened state of the contact it can cause a buzz. Even with a goo PTC relay you would hear the compressor buzz if it was not starting. In that case the run capacitor may have failed or the compresor rotor is internally locked at which point the start cycle will repeat every 3 to 4 minutes as the thermal overload cycles and the compressor will not start.

Thanks for choosing FixYa
