Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console

1 Answer

I have taken my xbox 360 apart, cleaned it, put new thermal coating on it, checked all the componets on the motherborde to make sure that they won't lose, and put it in a place with good air flow but the 2 red lights still shows up!!! The 1 thing I have noticed is that the fan on the back sounds like it kicks into some kind of turbo stage befor it turns off and the red lights show up!!! If anyone knows what is wrong and knows how to fix it please let me know!!! thanks

2 red lights meaning the chips are overheating. This could be the heatsink does not have a good contact with the chip. Don't put too much thermal paste. just a very thin layer.

Wont play xbox game disc

Make sure the disc is clean, if its clean, and works in another 360. Disassemble the 360, open the dvd drive up, shoot some canned air in there but NOT on the laser, clean the laser with some rubbing alchol of at least 91% and a q-tip then put it back together if this doesn't work you will need to buy a replacement laser off of ebay. And here is a link on how to disassemble the 360: http://www.rrodfix.com/how-to-take-apart-the-microsoft-xbox-360-game-console.html Just make sure to stop when you've gotten to the part about the DVD drive, then disconnect the DVD drive, and take it apart. Best of luck.

I have one red light flashing on my xbox 360. how can i fix it?

If you have a hard drive, clearing the cache might resolve the one red light error. Also, you can try to remove the hard drive and power on the Xbox 360 Console without the hard drive to see if the red light will still occur. If it doesn't appear it is the hard drive causing the error and needs replacement, if it does flash the red light still, it is a hardware failure in your Xbox already.

Xbox grinding, i took it apart but cannot find any magnets? I have a samsung

make sure that your Xbox 360console is on a flat even surface without any vibration as it utilizes high speed disc reading causing the disc sometimes not to spin properly due to centifugal force thus likely for the system to vibrate in an unusual manner and touch some internal componets inside.

Error E 74 is on display

The Graphics Processing Unit is not working. This requires the xbox 360 to be taken apart right to the motherboard. What has happened is the GPU thermal compound needs to be replaced. Best thing is to send it in for repair.

Xbox360 disc drive

Hi, it sounds like you have the" open tray" error that is very common with the 360s. How you fix this is you take your DVD drive apart and look at the laser assembly, there are 2 screws on the side of it, look at the one on the left. Turn this screw to the left a VERY little bit at a time and keep checking it every time you turn it until it stops the open tray error.

XBOX 360 FREEZING PROBLEMS

Sounds like you are suffering the dreaded overheating Xbox 360 syndrome.
Do a quick search on Google and you will come up with a lot of pages and info about this problem.
There are methods involving wrapping a towel around the unit etc.
Also keep an eye on your power brick. Make sure it dosn't overheat.

Personally because I live in Australia and it's always hot here, alot of 360 owners have taken them apart and added in fans to help the cooling.
