How to install drive belt for mower 1972


The belt goes around a bunch of pulleys. One of those pulleys is a ''tension'' pulley. It is either ''spring'' loaded, in which case you pull it back (or push it forward) and it releases enough tension for you to take off/put on the belt. Or, the pulley is bolted tight (probably that considering the year), and all you have to do is loosen the bolt, and use a pry bar to pull/push (whichever direction releases tension). Rust will no doubt be playing a role in this, so you're best bet is to spray penetrating fluid on the whole assembly 24 hours before doing the job. (Make sure the fluid is cleaned off the pulley groves before putting the belt on).

If it is the latter, once you put the new belt on, you use the pry bar to put just enough pressure on the belt that you can move the belt back and forth about 1 to 2 inches. Looser the better, but not so loose that it seems to be ''vibrating'' (''flapping'') when the mower is running.

Anyway, you hold the pry bar while ''feeling'' for the right tension. When you feel you've got it right, you remain holding the pry bar at exactly that spot, and tighten the bolt.

How do you release the tention on the serptean belt of a 2001 Chev tracker 2.0 engine to replace the belt?


the alternator has a small long bolt on top unscrew it that should release the tension or look for the idler tension is a small round wheel which the belt goes around it too ,with a craw bar or long screw driver you can pry and release the tension good luck

How do i get the tension of the drive belt to change water pump?


If it is a serpentine belt they all have a tension wheel. It looks like a pulley but is attached to a tension arm and will have a nut on the pulley center. Take a big ratchet or breaker bar and push/pull on the pulley arm to release the tension. Don't pinch your fingers. The same process to reposition the belt. Look at how the belt goes around the pulleys before removing to not get confused on putting the belt back.

How do i replace the serpentine belt that goes tothe alt. ?


You will need a breaker bar to release the tensioner. A breaker bar is a long ratchet that doesn't ratchet. The breaker bar size for your car is 1/2".

You will see a square hole on the tensioner and that is where the breaker bar goes. Put the breaker bar in there and pull on it until it gives you enough slack to pull the belt off. Make sure to pull the right way to release the tension. IF it wont release the tension don't yank on it try going the other way, It will help to have two people to do this job. You only need to pull it off one pully then slowly let the tensioner go back.

To put the new belt on make sure you run the new belt the exact same way as the old. Again you will need to release the tension from the tensioner and slip the belt over the last pulley.

Not bad to do, first check and make sure the routing belt label is there before you remove belt should be a label under the hood or on radiator support, if not draw a picture so it goes on the same way. To remove belt on center of tensioner pulley there's a bolt fit a wrench and turn clockwise to release tension remove belt while holding tension.

First you take the top off by opening the door. There are two screws in the top part. Second there are two screws that hold the front on, on both sides. You take them out. Finally, this is a important step, remember how the belt goes back on. The Idler controls the tension on the belt. Next after the tension is remove the drum out. Put the new belt around the drum and then around the motor pulley. Then move the idler to the right I think and the move the belt past the idler and that will gain your tension.

Replacing fan belt


1.Most modern cars have an IDLER pulley in the fan belt train of pulleys with a heavy spring on it that keeps tension on the timing belt.

2. Get a spanner/socket and put it on the nut in the middle of the idler pulley.

3.heave on the spannner and the pulley will swing up/down out of the way realeasing tension on the belt. (depending on the tensioner setup)

4. Simply remove old belt and thread new belt on. Simple.

BELT REPLACEMENT


Take off the front kick plate (bottom panel) then remove the front panel. The top panel will be attached to the front panel by some plastic push in retainers you can loosen with a screwdriver. The belt will go around the drum on top to a drive wheel at the bottom of the machine. you will have to slip the belt around the drum in the front or back of the drum to get it around it.

Replacing maytag dryer belt


looking at the back of the motor where the belt pulley is you would grasp belt coming down from the left side of drum then come across the top of belt pulley that is on motor shaft going clockwise around that pulley then continue back to your left and over the top of belt tension pulley going counterclockwise around that pulley this is when you will have to raise pulley against spring pressure to get belt on then release belt tension pulley make sure that belt is still in belt groove on the drum hope this helps ed

Fixing a gas dryer belt


That I believe is an older model GE with the idler bar instead of the short bar. I believe there is also a rear panel that you can remove to gain access to it. I dont remember for sure if it keeps tension up or down. Loop your belt around the motor pully, then find out which way it keeps tension on the belt, then loop the belt around the idler pully and release so that it keep tension on the belt itself.
