Question about Whirlpool 25.4 Cu. Ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator w/Thru-the-Door Ice & Water - Satina Stainless-Look
My ice maker is not working, the water gets frozen before it gets to where the cubes are actually made.. what can i do?
If I understand the problem correctly, it sounds like there is ice frozen in the tube that the water flows through just before it comes into the ice maker. If this is the case, I have the solution.
This problem is caused from a bad water valve. The water line that connects to your refrigerator hooks up directly into your water valve. The way it works is this. The water valve keeps the water pressure to OFF. Whenever your ice maker needs water it simply asks the valve to open and it does. The problem is this. The valve has malfunctioned and isn't totally shutting off anymore. This lets a tiny bit of water through. This water slowly makes its way up the water line into the freezer where it freezes in your tube :) You just need a water valve! With a model number I can give you an average price. Chances are it will run anywhere from $50 - $100. Just depends on where you get it. This is also a very easy thing to change!
