Question about Akai PT5598HD 55" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

Horizontal lines When the TV first turns on, a bunch of gray horizontal lines appear at variable positions.  After a short period of time, the screen usually clears up.  This also occurs when the channel is changed or when the video transition between different scenes rapidly.  What are the possible causes?  And how difficult would it be to resolve? Thanks, Toy

Check all caps in power suppy and vertical. but i would point to the power supply first. the last tv i seen with this problem, i ran it for 20 minutes, and turned it off and felt the tops of all caps, found one or more that was hot. there was the bad caps, without the headache of checking all of them on the cap checker. this might not work for you. not all bad caps get hot.

I have a KF-42E200A Sony Bravia LCD tv. Recently we had to replace the lamp. Since then a horizontal line appeared at the top of the screen and it has grown to about 3 inches now. The picture itself is...

The lenses in the TV are more than likely misaligned due to heat from lamp. The heat can cause the lenses to move and the red shaded horizontal line appears over time because the lenses fall out of alignment.

You just need to have the lenses realigned and the red shading will go away.

Sony 51" rear project tv

Click here to find information on how to fix your TV. Make sure that you turn the screen control slightly counterclockwise until you see the lines disappear.
I would suggest to put a mark where the original position is, just in case you have to go back to the default position.
Good Luck.

Mitsubishi #VS-45605

We had a blue cone on the screen. We have adjusted the sharpness, contrast, and cross hairs. The cone has almost completely disappeared, but we still have blue shadows. Could this mean a blown color tube?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Black horizontal lines appear after tv is on for 30 minutes

Kellia,

I had the same problem with our VS-55705 Mitsubishi. It seemed to me that this was a problem of heat.

I unplugged the TV and then took the cover off of the back of the it. I then used canned air to blow off the collection of dust from the components. Then I vacuumed as close to everything as I could without touching any of the components. I then used glass cleaner to clean up the surface of the three bulbs.

I plugged in the TV and it has worked perfect ever since. I haven't put the rear cover back on it yet. That could have been all that I needed to do to fix it. I'm too busy enjoying a nice picture to try putting it back on. Cleaning the bulbs really helped the quality of the picture.

Good Luck!

Sound like you have to turn down the G2 (screen)controls. They are turned up too high.
