I couldn't see IC451 on the board, but I did see IC2303 and the chip was a sony CXA1279S. I'm not too sure what that chip does.

oh ic. ic2303 coulnt be the vertical IC . the vertical IC looks like a standing type. with a heat sink in it and has about 9 pins only its use is to give pump up signal to the deflection yoke and also gives signal to the horizontal circuit and make the TV powering up .

Panasonic color TV model CT-32G9J won't turn on.

been a long time since fixed an crt tv. but if you have a stand by light the problem on this model is the control chip if remember right it sits on the left side near to the front. think its an 8 pin chip. these just go and it will not turn on. these chips are easy to get hold of and are cheap. you just need to remove it and replace with a new one. and the tv will work again. its not on the power board but is controlling the power start up. if there is no stand by light its a longer problem to solve. it could be a number of problems. would need to know if any problems happened before the tv did not turn on.

Panasonic CT-36G34 TV vertical deflection circuit

there is a single ic you need to find, usually location ic301 or 401---it will have between 7 and 13 pins in a single straight row---a generic number is printed on the front---usually begins with a LA but can be different

Locate the chip and gain access to the bottom of the board, the pins on the chip break loose from heat==SOLDER ALL THE PINS BACK AND YOU SHOULD BE GOOD TO GO---its a very common problem in these sets.
12_19_2012_7_41_26_pm.jpgsomething like this with more pins possible--will be attached to metal of some sort to keep it cool.

Yes there are 2 capacitors that are usually bad one they are both very close to the vertical output. one is a 100uF at 35Vor 25V and the other is usually a 220uF at 25 or 16V- Replace with 100uF at 50V and 220uF at 35V- and observe the polarity(+,- symbols on caps) before replacing.

I Have PANASONIC TV \ Model PT-47WX42F

IT SOUNDS like a convergence problem; go into the customer menu and select convergence--you will first be offered a green cross--do not adjust it--go to red or blue and look to see if either does not move in some direction--for example red will move up and down but not left or right.

If you find this--you have a bad convergence chip---this set uses 2 STK-392-110 chips; both and any bad resistors that protect them need to be replaced and the set adjusted.

You can buy both chips on Ebay for about 12 dollars plus shipping; the chips are located on two metal heat sinks and are black(2 1/2 inch wide and 1 1/2 inches tall--the STK number will be printed on them in white). The resistors are in front of both chips and are light powder blue in color---any of them that are white in the middle are gone--the ones you want to look at are marked 2.2 ohms.

If you are able to do this repair yourself I have step by step from start to finish instructions I have prepared in Microsoft word--if you need them email me and I will send them to you.

If you are not able to do this repair look for someone in your area--many shops charge 300-400 for this repair. If they say it "has to go to the shop" keep looking--any good tech can do this repair in your home in about a hour--I know as I do hundreds of them each year for about 200-250 total depending on model of the set.

Now is the slow time of year for TV repair shops--shop around---200-250 is a good investment and you cannot replace the set for this kind of money---also this is about the only real problem most of these sets ever have---once the chips are replaced the set should be good to go for 5 years or more before it has this kind of trouble again.

I do this here for free so if this has been helpful take a minute and give me a vote here. If you need help or want the instructions contact me.

No Colin, Its not the Tube. The problem is a vertical sweep falure. it could be just a driver/output IC or could also have a problem In the sweep power supply where The voltage that supplys the B+ going to the vertical IC could also be defective. Its not a repair a user should attempt to do as it's soldered into place and you can get hurt if not experienced with these types of TV repairs. As to the cost It depense on how much you like the set and if you can find an honest repair person to do an honest job? Good Luck
