Question about Acer Aspire One PC Notebook

2 Answers

When I turn on the notebook, the screen giving the option to start normal or to safe mode comes up. No matter which mode I select the machine locks out and will not complete the booting up process. The blue screen codes are 0X00000073(0X00000001, 0XC000017D, 0X00000001, 0XF749BBB8)

My first thought is the Hard Drive has a problem. I would pull the Hard Drive out and start the computer a few times without it. If it boots and POSTS to where you can see the white text on a black background and consistently gets to the point to where it says there is no Hard Drive present....that would point even more to a bad or corrupted hard drive.

If you have data that is not backed up, I would not attempt any further repair without pulling the info off. If you dont know how, it may be best to go to a local repair shop.

I would hook the Hard Drive up to another computer as a Slave. You can buy laptop IDE HD to USB adapters online. If it is SATA, you can just hook it up to most Desktop computers. Copy any data you need and when you are done, run a Disk Check on the HD while it is still hooked up as a slave.

If the HD is not the problem, my next thought would be the Memory. You probably have 2 sticks of RAM installed. The easiest way to test is to just take one stick out and see if it works....then repeat with the other stick.

You got disconnected from the chat.
I need to know your operating system so i can write a detailed instruction. In case you are using windows XP, you can try this steps:

-Boot from windows XP installer CD

-Start the recovery console, if you don't know how here's the link: Ref: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307654#3

-Type this commands: (hit enter key after each line)

CHDIR $NtUninstallKB971486$\spuninst
BATCH spuninst.txt
EXIT

Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks.

I have a black screen that says safe mode, safe mode with networkin , safe mode with command prompt and laast known good configuration but when i go to safe mode my computer just reboot all over again

This recycling/rebooting into this screen is normally caused an error (hardware or software).
You MUST turn off - Automatic Restart to see the error message.
Power down your laptop.
Press the power button to turn-on laptop.
Start pressing the F8 key immediately AFTER the DELL logo screen and BEFORE the windows screen.
You SHOULD be brought to the same screen as you described above but with an additional option: TURN-OFF automatic restart. Select this option and press ENTER.
Let laptop cycle and you should see blue background screen with white letters giving you information.

Please provide the ERROR message on screen BEFORE we can advise you any further.

How do i turn off safe mode

Most computers when you boot it up give the option of "Boot Menu" upon the first few seconds of powering the machine on. Look at the screen and see if it reads Press F1 or F2 for Boot Menu. From there you can toggle off the safe mode option. Sometimes it's the delete key or alt key for some other computer providers as well.

Hope this helps,

Marty

Turn on computer comes up to windows page with no pass words

It sounds like it might be getting to the user accounts and not being able to log in. I would start by going into safe mode--> Right before the windows splash screen comes up, start pressing the f8 key. Then when it gives options, choose safe mode. If it gets to the user screen this means its either something in your startup, or the user account files.

Once in safe mode, you can select the administrator account, and create a new user account, to see if you reboot to normal mode and it lets you log in as the other user.

This generally is the indication that the hard drive has failed and needs replaced. You can try reloading the system, but 99% of the time when I see this the hard drive is shot.

Safe mode business

safe mode automatically comes up when you didn't shut down properly. Just select boot as normal or last known good configuration then you are good to go.

uninstall any new hardware or software you have recently installed to cause the problem in the first place. If you haven't installed anything then windows should just start normally.

good luck
