Question about LG RC797T

Open Question

How to re-set all the Option Codes found on the 'secret' Technicians Menu?

After entering the 1397139 number on the remote,I got to the'secret' Service Technician Menu. I did this to make the player Region Free, which was sucessful( I changed Option 5 to ff ). However, I had nervous fingers and accidentally changed some of the other Options as well. Now the player fails to accept any BLANK media such as DVD+r or +R/W. It says"unknown disc" and ejects it. It won't allow initialization either. But it does play finalized media. I think i basically just need to know what the original factory set Option Codes were so that I can reset them. Dave p.s. I tried to make credit card payment but it keeps being rejected because it says the expiration date of the card is not valid....they ARE valid !!!

LG RC797T Region Unlocking Codes

Purchased two of these VCR/DVD recorders (for the ATSC-digital tuner) in March 2007 at Best Buy. They play PAL/region 0 out of the box. To enable region-free playback I used the CD-ROM previously made for my LG LST-3510A. Visit this link for the files to burn your disc:

http://aiwaownersnetwork.tripod.com/pages/lg/5000_series_firmware.html

Next:
--Power on the player and load the CD-ROM
--In a few moments a text box appears displaying current DVD region and a second line to change DVD region
--Press the number you wish (most likely "0") on the remote control
--Press "Enter" on the remote control
--In a few seconds the player will eject the disc. Remove the CD-ROM from the tray and power off

Upon powering on the player my region 2 and 4 DVD's play fine but Macrovision still remains.

OR

Click the HOME button on the remote with the unit in 480i resolution
Click the setup page
Click Start
Click TV Aspect
highlight the 16x9 wide aspect ratio
enter on remote control this coded sequence:
1397139

Edit specific "Options"

Option 2: 35 (enables Divx/Xvid playback)
Option 4: ff (enables Vcd and SVCD playback)
Option 5: ff (enables region free playback (region 0) DVD playback)
Option 6: ce (enables Insignia brand startup logo on boot)
Option 6: c0 (enables LG brand startup logo on boot)

Unlock code for dvdplayer LG RC 195

Hello,
You may want to copy and paste this into notepad or another writer program, save it and print it so you have it in hand and have read and understand the sequences as they are rather involved for your player.

This is from VideoHelp.com

Turn on TV and player, press home key on player remote; in setup, scroll down to the padlock icon (when you get to the "padlock" option on your remote, leave it there, don't go to the menu to the right which has three options--rating, password, area code. Leave it on "lock", press 0000000 and you will be region free.

That's seven zeros.

If the above sequence doesn't work try this other process below.

While having one too many beers my friend managed to use the remote to get to the 'secret' Service Technician Menu for my LG RC797T DVD recorder to make it Region free. This he did mange to do, however his...

In 480p resolution, you highlight the 16.9 aspect ratio from the TV Aspect menu option in Setup and then type 1397139 on the remote. This brings up the service screen with all options and machine information.
Optimal (best) settings are as follows.
1 : f 2 2 : 35 (this is DivX)
3 : 93 (macrovision?) 4 : f f (Vcd/Svcd)
5 : f f (region free) 6 : c0 (c0 = LG logo)(ce = Insignia)
7 : 04 8 : 15
All I can say is Keep these and and dont mess around or you can kill it....

Wrong region

i used this same procedure^on a different model. The number is entered via remote control pointing to the unit. after entering the right code, there should be a secret menu that will appear when you press setup , mine appeared as preference. On this menu, you can find the region. You can fiddle around, you cannot destroy the unit. The info is here: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks/amw-v99/3349 maybe you can read what the other people have done.
