If the computer starts and the fan are working ..but it seams to be in a loop and only make a click noise and do not boot..this is a issue with the Ram memory and it supposed to take it out and insert it again and give it a try ..if it does the same and you have 2 ram units ..take one out and try them one by one ..and see if one of them is burned.....also you can open it and remove the bios battery for a few seconds to make it see the hardware again ...
If it only has a power monitor light on ..but it do not start at all..it is the Cpu ..and again ..try to see if removing the Bios battery does a difference or replace the cpu ..
If it start s and seam to boot in windows...(hear the log on sound) ..but only the monitor is black ..than try to connect to an external monitor to see if it is a physical issue with the lcd screen or reinstall the operating system ...but if the reinstall is required it is supposed to show you the devices but black out when windows log in ..
anyway with what you told me so far ..I can not figure but suppose..and if it has power and seams to go on with just the fan noise..and a clicking sound ..it si a issue from a sudden power lost and removing the bios battery will fix it ..

Does the laptop boot? Sound? Do you see a "ghost Image" in the monitor in a bright light? If so, Could be backlighting, Inverter, on/off switch that shuts the monitor on/off when you open and close the lid. Can you boot to safe mode with networking? If so, Open the Device Manager, Uninstall the Graphics Adapter, reboot, the software will apply a generic driver, If the Graphics adapter has not failed completely.

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LEDflashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faultyinverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow myinstructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

How to fix compaq presario cq60-215dx black screen?

Hi,
With the laptop turned on, shine a bright light onto the screen. Can you see anything on the screen (like windows log on screen)? If so, your inverter has failed. This can be replaced relatively easily. Please post back with the results of the above.

I have a Compaq Presarion CQ60-114E and I have a Black Screen

You simply need to replace the screen, and or backlight, it is a relatively easy job, as long as you get a service manual. I usually get my screens from eBay, or similar.
