Check out the fuses on the inverter board, also look for shorted out transistors (4).

Faith1114, Try this first! See if any thing seems a little similar to your f1903 type of complaint. Problem been around a long time!!! Go do some reading here: http://www.lesliewong.us/blog/2005/05/02/hp-pavilion-f1703-flat-panel-display-blackout-solution. After doing some reading there, you will be in a better position to make decision to DIY repair, contract out the repair work, trade in for new , DIY repair + buy a new monitor keeping refurbished f1903 as emergency spare. Here is a little clue. If unit can display Win-desktop for 2 seconds and then the "black screen of death happens" you certainly need to do some reading and viewing of DIY videos at YOUTUBE so you can understand the big problem all major CCFL back-lit lcd monitor manufacturers are facing. do some additional reading here at fixya in the profiles of ccfl backlit lcd monitor technicians "budmrtn" "buddymc" , "12fixlouie" (late) "louie12fix" (old) Follow links you find there. Once you understand basic problem you will never walk past the new curlie-Q, screw-in energy-efficient CFL light bulbs at the local hardware or big box homecenter ever again with out having a slight grin on your face!! Bye for now. 12fixlouie

I have an Hp pavilion f1903 19" monitor and it was running fine with windows 8 but now after I turn on the computer and turn on the monitor it flashes on for a second but then goes back in sleep mode. If I...

Your monitor flashes due to a bad capacitors. They are responsible in controlling and regulating the power to the LCD. When they fail, this is the symptom 99% of the time.
To replace the bad ones, you will need to open, identify, desolder, replace by new ones and solder them back.
Job takes about 45 mins. (with soldering skills)
Price range for bad caps is 6 to 15 usd.

Screen goes black for a second or two every few minutes

This indicates the inverter transformer is going or a capacitor issue.

My AOC screen goes black after about a few seconds after booting.

Hello,

The picture board on your monitor is bad, since it goes off after few seconds and the power led or button is on, it means the picture board of your monitor has developed fault.

The best thing for you to do now is to take the monitor to a local repairer or service center within your vicinity to help with the replacement of the picture board because the fault is not something you can fix yourself, in order not to complicate issues.

Take care.

Power is on but screen is black

Hi, you gave too little details & you did not tell us if there is any display of your desktop on the screen...I know how annoying it is but please try another RAM stick. I don't think it's a monitor problem.
HOWEVER if all parts are OK & still the problem is not solved, you need to replace cable connected to your Hard Disk.
Please let me know so that we can help you further send your feedback. thanks.

My screen goes black after a few seconds

Sounds like a bad solder joint on the printed circuit board. Once it heats up then it no longer makes good contact and the monitor goes black until it cools down and makes contact again. You could resolder it if you knew where it was but monitors are dangerous to go playing around with as they can hold very high charges of electricity in their capacitors that are very dangerous. It's a throw away world. Go buy a new one.

Hp vs 19 lcd monitor and it randomly just turns off and then flashes back on for 2-3 seconds then goes back off again

phantasighz, Did you swap out the monitor to get online? Or has the HP LCD mysteriously start working fine again? We need a littile more history here???? Once the LCD goes to BLACK, will it stay black, or will it all by it's self try to start up again, and then repeat the whole cycle again forever? Did you buy it new? How old is it? Have you talked to HP to see if they have swapout program? You send them your's+$40 to $90, and they send you same model refurbished(new CCFtubes/inverter/smps) installed. If you don't know by now, you are dealing with a lighting problem. Do you have any of the new energy saving curlie-Q screw-in compact-fluorescent light bulbs? Their high voltage source is derived alittle different than the way your monitor does it, and of course the Cold Cathode Fluorescent tubes are thinner and straight and hung horizontally on the opposite side of the LCD/FPD you look at. All you need to do to learn more about your problem and what hundreds of others are doing to repair their LCDs is GOOGLE search this: bad caps in lcd monitors. Hope this info helps you understand the technology better. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel @aol.com

Monitor flashes on then goes black.

I think you have the display shut off. the button on the bottom left will shut screen off. It will come on for a few seconds if you touch the screen, but will shut off again. just push the display button again and it should stay on.
