Question about Heating & Cooling

2 Answers

I have a KoolSpace KoolR 300 and I can't seem to get the temp down. It has been at 55-56 for years and now is at 63-64. The filter is clean. The line has no water in it and the exhaust out side the room is also clean.

Original answer was about an AC unit, non specific to my question.

Your thermostat is bad and will need to be replaced. When you unit starts doing this that means that it is not reading the correct temperature. Most units only last about 5 -6 years then you will need to replace some parts. Luckily for you it is only the thermostat. you can google search KoolSpace KoolR parts and you will be able to find the parts that you need. This has nothing to do with the unit not working right in all other ways.

I have a thermostat in the wine room. It agrees with the 64 degrees. Any other suggestion? Maybe a way to reset the unit?

The comment was related to your AC unit. IF your thermostat is going bad, then this would cause you to not be able to lower the temperature at all. I am talking about the AC unit and the thermostat that controls the AC unit. I have been a tech for 15 years and know what I am talking about here. If your thermostat is going bad AGAIN if you replace it all will work well

Is this something I purchase myself and have someone install. I have a good handyman.

Yes you can order the part yourself and install it yourself. There is no need for a technician at this point. I have been diagnosing AC issues for years over the internet and I can assist you in making sure that your system is working correctly.

Searched what you suggested and can't find anyone selling parts.

One of two things can be going wrong. First the easy one; it may be just low on freon. I do not know this make & model, so generically speaking, it being just a tad low on freon can cause this. I would open the case and look for any obvious signs of a dirty/oily mess on any lines or fittings. Look for any service caps or a way to access the pressure of the refrigeration system. If you feel un-easy with getting into the guts you might have to call a service tech. Next is the hard one; how old is this A/C? if it is 10 years or round about, it may have a worn compressor. If this is the case she will not cool as it once did. The pressures have to get up to levels, it's a push - pull type of thing, pushing freon and pulling freon through the system, an worn compressor just can't do it as efficient. Hope this helps you, decide what is going on..

I have a Koolspace AA6 Tuscany free standing unit. Sn 05314-11. Power went out cooling unit will not restart. I get the thermostat to read and fan to turn for a while then goes into high temp alarm mode.

It seems like this cooling unit (AA6, also Grand Cru 800) just doesn't last as per numerous postings that I found when I was trying to find a replacement unit. Best advise seems to be get a higher output unit that will fit application.

Koolspace NUVO wine cooler recharge

do you have a recovery machine and gauges you need to tap both sides to check the high to and it needs to be vaccumed down to remove moisture ,find and fix the leak. leaks arnt verry common un less someone broke a line somehow. if the compressor is running it is more likley it has a restriction or bad valve in compressor, hooking to high and low sides will determine which if is less than 5 years old it could be under warrant still most sealed systems have a longer warranty than the rest of it is the evaperator getting cold at all.

When giving gas, seems like the car is not getting gas. I am guessing either gas filter or gas line may be clogged? Maybe computer chip, not sure?

add a can of SEAFOAM(parts store) to tank of Premium fuel, and change fuel filter. EGS(ethanol gas syndrome) is affecting a lot of vehiles. It will clog lines, injectors, and filters. It also dumps water in lines, and can harm fuel pump. Try this, and add a can of SF every 3-5000 miles and it will cleans valves, fuel parts. emission and much more. best stuff invented for the corn gas we have to buy now. It sounds simple, but in the 20+ years of business, I've never seen anything like it. Good luck.

Koolspace 600 Problem

You'll need to replace the fan. The original fan bearings wear our after a couple of years. It's pretty simple to drill out the rivets and replace the fan. I suggest you replace all four with ball-bearing fan units.

My Koolspace cooler in my VK250 wine fridge quit cooling

I have the same problem with mine and have tried the same things as you have. I took my unit to a air conditioner service place and they said these units are not worth fixing. It would cost about $150 to add a valve so they refill the gas and then try to find out why it is leaking. I am about to order another one which makes me vary mad. My unit is 1.5 years old.

Moaning & groaning noise

your koolspace is loosing refrigerant slowly. the solution is to buy another one, because koolspace people changing their design every year so you as a consumer would not repair the cooler rather buy one new from them. what a sad way to do business. so do yourself an act of kind, do not buy koolspace, buy another brand and modify the hole to fit it in.
