1. Remove the triangular shaped panel behind the side-view mirror (A). It is held in place by two clips, so just gently pull it back, work your fingers under the panel, and pull firmly. Be careful not to break it.

2. Pry off the door lock cover (B) with a flathead screw driver or other flat object then remove the screw behind it.

3. Remove the plastic plug in the middle of the hinge side of the panel (C). These can be a pain. I had a cheap, plastic putty knife that I cut a groove out of the middle to make a pry tool. It worked well. If you don't have a puller for these, just work around it slowly pulling it out.

4. Remove the screw hiding behind the door pull/arm rest on the left side (D). I used a 7mm bit driver, but I think a 9/32" will work too.

5. Remove the cap in the middle of the latch side of the panel (E) to reveal a torx head screw and remove that(used a T20 size bit).

6. Pry off the trim piece around the door handle (F). It comes off fairly easily.

7. Remove the screw in the middle of the bottom of the panel (G). This is another 7mm screw and holds in the storage container (H), which can now be removed (just pull it out).

8. Being careful of the wires attached to the panel, lift and pull it slightly away from the door. Remove the wire and bulb from the light in the bottom corner of the panel (I). When I did this , I pulled at an angle and the bulb popped off of the end of the plug. It was a pain to fish back out of the light housing, so pull lightly and straight out and the bulb should come with it.

9. Now you have a choice. You can reach behind the door panel under the power door, window, and mirror control panel (J) and unplug the wires blindly. This may or may not be possible if you haven't seen how they're plugged in to begin with because some of them are tricky to release. The other option is to get down and look on the under side of the control panel (on the back side of the door panel) and remove the screw (another 7mm) that holds it in place. You can then pull the control panel out from the door panel (it is still held in place by a clip on the bottom side) and look at the wires to unplug them.

After all of that, your door panel should now be free. Now you can replace your speaker or whatever it is you needed to do. It sure was a pain the first time, but now that I've done it once, it won't take nearly as long the next time. The reason I went into detail with the power door, window, and mirror control panel is because I read in my Haynes manual that it was held in place by two clips and pulls right out. I found out the hard way, there was a freakin screw on one side! I ended up tearing it out. Whoops. I didn't damage things that badly though, and I can still replace the screw.

I hope this will help someone!

***Note: My truck came with tweeters in the front doors, which also had a plug that had to be removed before the door panel was free.

Removing the rear door panel

Start by removing the arm rest screws...usually Phillips...sometimes a small 8 mm...after removing the arm rest you will need to pry off the panel starting at the bottom or sides...pull out to unsnap the plastic retainers...these usually are worn and need can usually find matching plastic clips at your auto parts store...on the "help" parts shelf...sometimes you can reuse the clips...after pulling the panel loose, lift the panel up to release the top catch which runs across the top of the may have some plastic sheet to remove to expose the speakers...unscrew the speaker hold down bolts to switch careful to match the wires when changing over ,black line to black line etc...Hope this helps...A speaker switch out can be an awesome improvement:)

04 Infiniti sedan w/ factory Bose. Front speakers are not working (no sound at all) and I adjusted fade all the way both ways. Back speakers are fine. What's up?

If the rear speakers are fine, perhaps I can narrow this down. Fuses must be OK. Steering wheel audio controls connect to the audio unit which has a preamp function. The W/BK outputs connect to the left front inputs of the Bose speaker amplifier; the GRN/RED outputs connect to the right front inputs. Your ear test confirms the front door speakers are not working, therefore there is no front door output from the amplifier. The amplifier stages for the front doors may not be working or no front door amplifier input is being received from the audio unit. The fader and balance controls do not show on the diagram so must be on the front panel. They could be defective. There is a remote possibility of broken/disconnected wires

Replace front speakers

You would have to open the door panel to replace front speakers. Look for any screws around the door handle. look at the whole door panel for any screws so that you may remove the panel in order to reach the speakers. once the panel is free from any visible screws, use a door panel remover ($5-10) and use it to pry off the panel, use it around the door panel push-in connectors, and don't use extreme force, may break connectors. once the connectors around the whole panel are removed. make sure your window is down before the whole procedure. then pick up the panel from the bottom (push up), then the panel should be off the door, if you want to change the speakers, you don't need to take any of the wiring to the window/door lock. simply remove the cover if any over the stock speakers, usually some screws. once the cover/screws are off. the speaker should come off. You will see two wires off the speakers (the red(positive) the black(negative)), once the stock speaker is removed, simply attatch the new speaker to the wires. make sure the negative and positive from the car DO NOT TOUCH, you WILL short circuit and blow a fuse, maybe worse, and it's not worth the time fixing. hope this helps, good luck.

Ok, the front speakers are in the doors, not the dash. Its the Bose system, not sure if I said that earlier. I bought replacement speakers and when I took the panel off the doors, it was an odd triangular...

did you purchase 4 1/4 or 5 1/4 it will be on of those two and the triangular thing you see it a molded fit for that bose speaker but you will have to remove and get a speaker template for you doors to get the job done

How to access the drivers door speaker on 2004 trailblazer

Usually to get to any speakers in the door you need to remove the entire door panel, but sometimes in rare cases they do have an access panel that pops in and out with clips in front of the speakers.
