Question about Alienware PC Systems ALIENWARE 5620D Notebook

1 Answer

LAPTOP SPILL Long story short; I spilled green tea on my laptop, seconds later it shutdown. Now when I turn it on, it goes to the options screen(f2 for, fr12 for, etc.) then goes to a black screen and stops there. I called alienware and they want an exorbant amount of money for a "possible issues" solution. I have a positive history with bestbuy and am hoping I could be helped once again. Any ideas on what it may be? And could bestbuy provide service of repairs?

The logic board needs to be cleaned or replaced. The part is available on common auction websites so you can try the repair yourself, especially the cleaning shouldn't be so difficult. There are also independent Laptop Repair places that will try a clean up Laptop Repair NYC.

Turns on and off after spill

You should not use laptop at least one week after spill! If someone spill something on laptop, immediately pull out the power cable and battery, and flip the top side down. Then clean it in laptop service and it should be OK, maybe you will have to replace keyboard. If liquid stay inside, it will make short circuit and destroy mainboard, so you should take it to the laptop service for cleaning.

Spilled icetea on to laptop keyboard, will power up but nothing else screen is black. hp nc4200

Ugh, sorry you had the accident, but many a laptop has survived such a spill (or in my case spills) and booted to tell the tale.

I'm assuming you now have the machine powered off, if not shut ot down immediately and do not try to restart it until you have done the following. There is kind of a standard procedure for laptop spills that I will provide you.

The suggestions below assume that your nc4200 is no longer under warranty.

Remove anything attached to the machine, battery, cables, external drives, anything. Using a soft, slightly damp (yes damp - got to remove as much of that sugar as possible) cloth blot any liquid on the machine gently, do not rub.

Tilt the laptop gently from side to side to allow any possible liquid to drain out. Do not shake the laptop. The Place the laptop upside down so that any potential remaining liquid will drain out. Hopefully you did not spill this amount of tea 8^).

Secure a regular hair blow dryer. Set it to low and slowly move it back and forth over the keyboard from about six inches and do the same for the rest of the machine, focusing attention to the openings that it has for ventilation. Do this for about five minutes or so.

Now the hard part: Set aside the machine in a warm (not hot place) and wait (at least four hours and if you can wait overnight, even better).

Try booting it with nothing attached. If it still doesn't boot the problem has gone beyond the keyboard and you'll have to consider having it professionally serviced.

Good Luck and thanks for using Fix Ya

Spilled coffee on D600 notebook, power supply turns off when plugged in after had the notebook cleaned. is my notebook not fixable?

When the power supply turns off when plugged into the laptop it is indicating that there is a short. Remove your battery and try connecting the power adapter again. If the problem persists your motherboard will most likely need to be replaced.
There are companies out there that will repair motherboards however if the laptop was on when the spill occurred there is little to know chance that the motherboard is repairable.

After spilling soda on my laptop it turns on and works fine for 1 hour, then screen goes black. I cleaned keyboard fine. Problem is there always. I have to wait for laptop to cool down(fans work fine),...

A soda spill will do this every time. As the Notebook recovers I doubt that the inverter board as gone. But the suger from the soda could be melting and causing a short. The only real solution is to completely dismantle the notebook and clean it with white spirit or similar. It will help if you can download disassembly instructions first! PS Try not to use it for too long without cleaning it.

Keyboard not responding after food spill and clean up

what type of food spill and how did you clean it affects the keyboard. What type of keyboard is it? Is a separate keyboard like for a desktop or is it on a laptop? for desktops, quickly turn the keyboard upside down to prevent fluids going further into the keys. After food spill, use a can of 'air'. Use short blasts to help blow out and dry any moisture out-at the same time, be sure to have the keyboard with keys facing down. for laptops, almost same-turn entire laptop upside down to allow fluids to escape. Be careful not to let the fluids come in contact with screen. Hope you have done some of this. If it doesnt work, you may need to replace the desktop keyboard and for laptops-take to repair shop for internal cleaning. Hope this helps
