It is definitely not a belt issue; otherwise no humming noise is heard from the motor since a switch which is wired in series with the motor circuit is being activated by the belt by means of a lever. The motor never runs without the belt on. The issue is rather with the motor being the rotor locked when the motor is turned on. The may seem free when not turned on. It can be verified by opening the dryer door then activating the door switch manually. Push and hold the door switch and start the dryer then turn the drum manually while still holding on the door switch. It is indeed a locked rotor issue if the drum does not turn freely and the motor (part number 279787) needs to be replaced. Otherwise, check the belt for slippage especially when the blower wheel turns but not the drum.

The cyclic attempt of the motor to kick in is normal indicating that the relay on the electronic dryness control is working.

I tried you suggestion. The drum does move but not freely. it is a litle tight and the mototr does not kick in. I did hear a click then and the whole motor seemed to kick off. Is it hard to replace the mottor? Do i go in from the back or the front?

Replacing the motor is the most difficult repair task with a dryer regardless of make and model as it requires a complete tear down of a dryer. Access to the motor requires the removal, in particular order, of top cover, front panel, toe panel, drum, and the blower wheel.

Thermal fuse location on a 110.9597590110 gas dryer

The model number of your machine doesn't seem to exist but the thermal fuse, whether dryer is electric or gas, is always located on the blower housing together with the thermistor or cycling thermostat depending on the model of the dryer. The blower housing is located at the rear of the dryer if the lint filter of you dryer is located on top of the cabinet and can be accessed by removing the rear panel.

The blower housing is located on the front right bottom of the dryer if the lint filter is located on the door. It can be accessed by removing the kick panel.

Kick Panel Removal

Once the kick panel is removed, remove the lint chute to expose the blower housing and the thermal fuse.

Kenmore dryer model # 110. 79902890 press the

you have a problem with a component called a capacitor.the capacitor stores an electric charge.this charge gives the motor the "kick" needs to start.if you have a faulty one the motor will hum because it cant turn.it should only be replaced by a competent appliance technician.

Where are the gas solenoids on a Kenmore gas dryer and how do I get to them?

If your dryer has a bottom kick plate pull it off and the gas solenoids are on the left side can’t miss. If you don’t have the kick plate the front of the dryer must come off. The whole front will come off very easy just lift the top up from the front and the remove two screws on each side hold the front on and lift the front up and off be careful of wire’s to the door.

Propane dryer. Can hear the heat kick on but dryer doesn't heat

Try looking at the gas regulator. It should have a solenoid that opens and closes. It sounds to me like this is not opening or is only opening partially. I had this same problem on an oven.
