Scanner not working on Dell 962 but printer does print; how long do these printers last?

Can you copy a document, when you put it under the glass? B&W and color?

If so, then it is a driver issue. Try reinstalling the printer by following the instructions located at...

If not, then...

Unplug the printer from the wall. Noe remove the power brick from the printer for 60 seconds. This will reset any error message the printer is getting. Plug the printer back in.

Turn on the printer. Open up the printer and take out the black cartridge and reseat it. Do the same for the color cartridge. Now close the printer and it will print an alignment page. Any error messages?

If you still get the error message, then it's possible that the sensor in the Dell Series 5 ink cartridge is bad. If this is a new Dell Series 5 ink cartridge, then take it back to the place of purchase for a replacement or refund.

black = black side(left) color = color side(right)

photo cartridge = black side(left color = color side(right)

Dell Series 5 ink cartridges have a sensor in them that cannot be reset. Article on refilling Dell ink cartridges.

Dell Series 5 ink cartridges can be purchased at Staples, Walmart or Dell's Website.

It's possible to pirchase a Dell Series 5 ink cartridge with a bad sensor. Please take it back to the place of purchase for a replacement.

My Dell 962 all in one printer will fax, print from computer but will not copy from an original. Seems the light is out that copies the paper.


This is not a good thing, a technician who can pull it apart for you is about the only Fix, it sounds like the scanner module would need to be replaced.
To be honest a replacement printer would be cheaper.

AIO 962 How to change ink cartridge


If the printer is off, turn it on. If the printer is busy, pause or stop the job. Open the printer by lifting the scanner bed. The print cartridge carrier automatically moves to the center of the cartridge bay. Note that the Photo All-in-One Printer 962 can hold the scanner bed in the upright position without a prop. Press down on the tabs to open the cartridge carriers.Remove the old ink cartridges.

If you get black pages output from copies there is either light getting to the scanner (from an outside source) or the scanner itself is damaged. Most likely the latter issue. You can try puttnig a couple of extra pieces of paper on top of your scanned document before scanning (place the image directly on the glass, throw a few pieces of paper on top, and then close the cover. If the issues are still present there is a hardware failure with the scanner device itself.

Dell Photo AIO Printer 926 scanner


I want to scan pictures onto my computer to post them and when I push the scan button it says Requesting scan~ and then Scan request failed... Any ideas?

I can't scan a document into a Word file...


Hi there,
  • Unplug the Scanner cable from the computer.
  • Unistall the Scanner drivers from Device manager and also unistall the all the Scanner appications
  • restart the computer
  • try to download drivers from the website
  • after installing drivers and software it will ask you to connect the Scanner.
  • then you can connect the Scanner and and try to Scan.

Hi,
The all in one solution software you used in XP doesn't work fully with Vista.

But you can still scan and copy by using Windows Photo Gallery.

1. Click on files tab at the top in Window Photo Gallery.
2. Click on import from camera or scanner.
3. Highlight your scanner icon (eg Dell A920) then click import.
4. New scan window will popup, now you can preview or scan using this basic looking Vista utility.

Dell 962 AIO Is Not Recognized As A Scanner


I contacted Dell Techical Support and they connecting to my system where they ran a cleanup utility (I think it deleted all the printer drivers) and then we downloaded the latest drivers and reinstalled the printer. At first it didn't appear to work correctly, but upon rebooting the system the printer was working correctly - scanner included. At the moment, all is well.
