Question about Canon PIXMA iP1800 InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

Canon printer I have a power mac. my semi trusty epson printer finally gave up the ghost. I need a printer. I have an old canon bjc-240 that works flawlessly. I use it with our pc, which is connected online. The mac is not able to be online because of it's obsolete ops. system, therefore I can't use it to download the driver directly to the mac. I would like to download the driver via the pc, burn to disk, then install in the old mac. Help please!

I just purchased the Mac Pro and have a BJC-85. I don't have the software disc. Is there a site to download?

Try for a driver... I think that printer may be pretty old and may not have a driver to work with current operating systems.

    Not printing from one computer

If the CHARGE/ERROR light is remain on orange with beep 1 times, it mean the paper is not properly set in the feed slot, just remove the paper and reload it properly.
If the POWER light is flashing green, that mean your print job is not finish yet.

My canon bjc-80 will not print

BJC-80, USB to PARALLEL cable & XP problem solved! I read all the comments, instructions, etc. and was ready to give up, but posed the problem to my son (who has a computer repair business, duh), and I'm not sure I have this correct he simply Dis-abled the bi-directional communications in the set up, gave the cable and printer a designated USB port, got the driver for the BJC-80 ... not BJC-85 ... and it works fine. I do not have the scanner cartridge but I have 2 BJC-80s and love them but gave up when got the new computer. Well, I just ran off 2 pages after cleaning the cartridges and cartridge holder with alcohol on TP, because they had dried up hard, and it works great in both B&W & color, at least on draft mode so far. (My son will not post anything because he does not want a bunch of calls coming in, and I don't know any more, but I just could not bring myself to give up these great little printers for on the go Realtors, etc. without another good old college try). Glad to have my printers back! Good luck.

    Go to

Vista driver for this machine comes stnadard with vista but will not work when old xp drivers are present (or were when upgraded to vista) , remove old driver from system, connect printer,  vista should auto reconise and install.

Canon bjc 240/orange light stays on

The blinking orange light could mean one or more of the following: -Home position error -Waste ink full error -Temperature sensor error -Printing position correction error -Cleaning error -Printer memory error I would probably clean the waste ink tank first. Make sure you unplug it first. Take the cartridge out and clean real good at the bottom.
