Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
It's not a problem with
your PS3. Rather it is the component cable. When you had a component
cable, you used to have a faint line running up the screen. You switched to
HDMI, and the problem was solved.
If you can't get HDMI, then you are stuck with what you have. It could also be interference from something else, some other cable (analogue interference. HDMI is digital and does not suffer from the same problem)
Also, try to unplug the cable TV line from your TV and see if the problem goes away; then disconnect the cable tv from the back, and then it should work fine. It's possible you have a "ground loop" because cable tv (the coaxial cable) is a path to ground, and the PS3 has a path to ground. To fix it you'd need to buy a surge protector that lets you plug your coaxial cable and your PS3 into it.
