I've had the same problem with my pd150 as well. Did you ever find a solution? I'm almost certain it's to do with playback from the tapes and not the actual data on them because the pixelation isn't consistent. It changes places (although most often when subject is moving) and I get it on other tapes that then play fine.

I bought a cleaner tape and it seems to help for a short while, then the pixelation returns. I read on another forum that it might be to do with the head alignment.

My only solution until now has been to fast forward the tape to a point where the pixelation stops and then capture video in 5 minute chunks backwards from there. It hasn´t produced perfect results but just about manageable.

This case sounds like really dirty picture and sound heads in camera and tape kept sticking so exposure was on each part of tape too long.
Keep camera heads shiny and clean by buying camera tape cleaner.

Hi All, I have DCR-TRV238E Digital 8 Handycam... I want to transfer the recorded video to my computer... Can you please tell me where i can download the software to upload the video on to my computer...

All of pre-HDD cam does have FireWire port somewhere in it (or at the docking station in case of SONY's)

In order to capture the footage from the cam to your PC,you need the Firewire card and the cable.Should be available at any computer hardware store.All you have to do is to install the card to your PC,connect your cam to your computer via the cable,then capture the video by your favorite video editing software.

Yes,that sounds a bit more difficult than drag-and-drop work in USB-connection camera,but not too difficult to understand,of course.

Video8 tapes upload to computer

You need a capture card or firewire output in your camera (This is faster) these capture card bring a software also for editing. If firewire, there is Premier Pro for PC or Final Cut for MAc. Make sure you have the right output connector on your Camera.

My computers do not recognize sony dcr-hc28 camcorder

Hi, I'm from the Philippines. I have the same handycam model. The first time I connected it to my PC (Windows XP) via firewire, nothing happened. It cannot detect my handycam. I returned the firewire card to the shop where I bought it. They tested it and the firewire card is ok but the firewire cable is defective so they replaced it. When I got home, I tested it again but still the handycam cannot be detected by my PC. I went online to find a solution and I came upon a solution that you need to attach/connect your charger to the handycam before you connect your handycam to your PC. It said that the handycam needs a steady supply of power to be able to connect to the PC. It sounded weird but I tried it and BINGO! The handycam got detected. I was able to capture my videos.

I also have a TV Tuner & Capture Card but when I capture videos thru the RF cables, the videos losses quality and videos are blurred. Thats the reason I bought a firewire card.

How Do I Edit the Film?

Look for the output jacks on your camera, hook them to your computer's audio/video input. Try accessing the recording utility on the computer then upload footage through NTSC format. You can then edit the footage. If your camera and computer utilize S-video, use them for best resolution

firewire is an apple gift to the video etc . world ( also called standard : ieee 1394 ); it solves some problems better than usb because it is a peer to peer connection ( all devices communicate with each other ) and your editing will be easier with it ;

VHS to digital conversion the ghetto way

The Trv19 has i.LINK™ (DV IN/OUT). So it would be possible to capture your VHS on a PC/MAC and then upload it to the Trv19. I haven't done the upload step to this model, but I've used Dazzle's (http://www.dazzle.com) and Hauppaugge (http://www.hauppauge.com/) capture cards/devices to capture the NTSC/PAL video and audio. From there you upload via iLINK (aka FireWire) to the camera.
