When starting a cycle, tub will fill properly, then when it is time for the wash cycle to begin, nothing happens. you can only hear a relay or other type switch click one time. after the one click, the...

The question is why the main motor is not running. Either there is an open contact in the timer, or the motor has a blown thermal protector or tripped internal breaker.

Troubleshooting starts at the timer. Most washing machines have a wiring diagram on a sheet of paper either folded up and stored inside the control panel or pasted on the back panel of the machine. Find the wires going from the timer to the motor. The motor has two windings, RUN and START. The RUN winding has one connection to neutral (WHT or WHT/BLK, meaning white or white with a black stripe) and the other to the timer. The START winding has both connections going to the timer. The timer connects it power one way for agitate and the other way for spin. (The direction of current through the START winding determines whether the motor will turn clockwise or counterclockwise.)

If you are comfortable working in a live 120 VAC circuit with a voltmeter, use the wire colors in the diagram to identify the motor terminals on the timer, set the timer to the agitate position (i. e., right after the machine is done filling and you hear the click), then check for voltage on the RUN and the START winding terminals. For the START winding, measure between the terminals going to the START.

If you don't want to probe a live circuit, you can use an ohmmeter to test for continuity between the hot terminal of the power cord and the motor terminals on the timer. Repeat for the neutral terminal. A failure at this point indicates either a timer problem or (unlikely since the timer runs) a bad contact on the water level switch.

If you get voltage to the motor on both windings, or you have continuity through the timer for both windings, then, with the machine unplugged, test for continuity through each motor winding at the timer. An open indicates a problem with the motor. Note: most machines use a capacitor in series with the START winding. In that case, measure continuity between the capacitor terminal going to the motor and the timer terminal going directly to the motor.

Whirlpool dryer model #LER8620PWD serial #MS3630316. I need to hold down the start button and rotate the timed cycle knob for dryer to turn on .

Sounds like you have bad contacts in your timer. By holding the start button and rotating the timer you are just finding a good contact point and allowing timer to send power to the motor. The timer part number is 3979618 and will run you about 90 bucks. hope this helps

I am trying to replace an old spring loaded attic fan timer. The old time simply had a black line in and a black line out. There was both a white and red line capped off in the box along with a bare...

The timer is wired differently than the old spring-loaded timer.
This is because the timer has an electronic clock instead of a spring.
The electronic clock needs power just like an alarm clock.
The white wire powers the clock.

Here's the wiring.
Black-timer wire connects to Hot-wire-from-breaker
Red-timer connects to Load (attic fan)
White-timer connects to white Neutral
In absence of a Neutral, connect white-timer to bare ground.

If you have your black-timer and red-timer wires reversed, it might cause the symptoms you describe.
Simply reverse the black-timer and red-timer.

If you want to test your wires to make certain:
Remove timer.
Separate wires for testing.
Turn on power.
Use ordinary tester.
Tape tester leads to wood sticks to keep hands away.
Power is ON.
Test each wire to bare ground wire.
When tester lights up, that is hot-wire-from-breaker.
Now test hot-wire to each of the other wires (except ground)
When tester lights up, that is Neutral
Not every switch box will has a Neutral
In that case white-timer connects to ground

Dryer will start run 5 minnutes shut down

After the dryer has been started to run, the motor will stop only when at least one of the motor feeder circuit wires is disconnected. The main feed line is routed through the timer while the neutral feed line is routed through the door switch. Hence, the problem is either the timer or the door switch. But the dryer shuts down 5 minutes after it is started and this signifies a dead spot in the timer that discontinues the main feed line shutting the motor down and also the timer motor. If the timer stops at the same point, then the timer is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Replacing the timer is an easy task that an average handy housewife can do. Just make sure the power to the dryer is disconnected prior to servicing to avoid the risk of electric shock.

Pull the timer knob off the console then remove the screws attaching the console rear panel to the console and move the panel away.

Disconnect the wires from the timer terminals one at a time then connect it to the new timer to avoid swapping out the wires.

Remove the screws securing the timer to the bracket then remove the timer and secure the new timer in place. Put the console rear panel back into position and secure it with the screws.

Went to push the dial in to start and it won't

first make sure you have power to the dryer.if you have power to the dryer than put your ear to the timer and see if you hear the timer running.if the timer is running than you nead to unplug the dryer and pull the dryer away from the wall so you can remove the vent hose and the back panal and the power cord cover.next look down and to the left and you will see a white plastic thermal fuse.remove the wires from the fuse and use a meter to see if the fuse is closed.if it is not replace the fuse and replace the back and power cord cover.plug the dryer in and check unit out.

Honeywell HZ-705.....HELP!!!!

Should have oil in it. I don't think you can refill it. If it has leaked out, it's probably no good. Anyway, here are the instructions.

Press the *power button* once to start the heater on high power, continuous run. If left at this setting, the unit will run continuously on high power (1500 watts, 12.5 amps) and will not shut off until the unit is manually turned off.
Press the *power button* again, to change to low power, continuous run, (900 watts, 7.5 amps) and will not shut off until the unit is manually turned off.

Set temperature:

Press the temp/timer button until the temperature icon blinks. Use the up and down arrows to set the desired temperature.
The temperature icon will stop blinking and the current room temperature will reappear after the desired temperature is set.

The heater will turn off and on to achieve the desired temperature.

Set timer: (auto off)

Press the timer/timer button until the timer icon blinks. The hour display will appear. The auto off icon will also appear.
Use the up and down arrow buttons to set the heater operation time between 1 and 10 hours. This function will activate once the timer icon stops blinking. The heater will automatically turn off whn the times runs out.

Set timer: (auto on)

Press the temp/timer button until the timer icon blinks. The hour display will appear. The auto on icon will also appear.
Use the up and down arrow buttons to set the heater start time between 1 and 10 hours. This function will activate once the timer icon stops blinking.
The heater will automatically turn on when time expires.

Hope this helps!

Everything you described is normal, except not heating up.
When you first plug it in, you will see 'dashes' that tell you it is getting power.
When you press the Power Button, the grill will start at the Default Temp of 300F and the Timer starts at 5 minutes. You now change the temp to what you want.
It takes 5 minutes to get your grill to your tempreature, so the timer should 'count-down' as the grill heats up.
As for not heating up, I think you will need to get that 'looked at' for repairs.
