Take out the dvd drive and then turn on the power to see if the one red light comes on. If it doesn't come on after taking out the dvd drive then that means the dvd drive is shorting out the main board.

If you take out the dvd drive and the one red light still comes on, then that means its a problem with the main board and your 360 would need to be serviced.

Hello my problem is in xbox 360 elite e 73 one light red

If you get the Xbox 360 1 red light message, it means that the problem is either with the DVD drive, or with the hard drive.

Fortunately, the Xbox 360 1 red light message is not something that you should worry about. In order to identify which of the two drives the Xbox 360 1 red light messages is referring to, just look the code number that the screen displays. DVD drive errors are identified with the codes E64, E65 and E66, whereas hard drive errors are identified with codes E67, E69 and E79.

Once you identify which error the Xbox 360 1 red light message is pointing to, fixing it is really easy. The guide available at Fix-xbox360.info will tell you what to do in each case, as well as what to do in case you get any of the other Xbox 360 lights messages. Check it out.

When i turn my xbox on one red light comes on.please tell me what is wrong with it many thanks-t.greer

When only 1 of the 4 green lights that are located around the start button flashes red and the screen flashes an error code number, it means that you've got the Xbox 360 1 red light message.

DVD drive errors are identified with the codes E64, E65 and E66, whereas hard drive errors are identified with codes E67, E69 and E79.

once you have found out if its the hard drive or the dvd drive then this is the part that needs replacing.
you will either need to get someone to do it for you or if you have some idea what you are doing then it is something you can do yourself, always check to see if you have any warranty left and if you do take it back if not then you will need to pay someone to do the work for you.

if you are doing it yourself then take it from me its not easy taking the case off let alone changing the parts so if you are going to do it yourself use google and fine an xbox 360 repair guide and this will then give you step by step instructions on taking the case off and removing any parts you need to remove, this how ever is not easy to do and will void any warranty you have left so double check your warranty as this part will be covered, taking the case of is not easy to do and you can cause more harm than good if you are unsure what you are doing.

i repair these myself and only charge if the problem is solved you never know if its just the dvd drive or if the unit has over heated and caused the dvd drive to fail, if this is the case then it wont be long before you get the dreaded red reing of death, which is 3 red lights lit up

let me know if you need further assistance ok

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

Xbox 360 DVD Drive ONE red light

The DVD drives are not interchangeable. Each one has a code that it matches with the motherboard when those numbers do not match they will show you the one red light which is known as a "general hardware failure".

You must do somehting called xbox 360 DVD Drive Spoofing. In order to cover this it is wayyyyyyy too much to type here. Here is a link that will help you.

Will play movies but not games, had red ring of death but fixed that and now it only plays movies not games

Sounds like a DVD Drive is bad. Note you cannot just replace the old dvd drive with a new one, you need to take the key from the old drive and then place it onto the new drive so it will work. all xbox 360 drives have a security key. If you still have your old drive then you may be ok and it may be that a technician can do the work for you.

One red light on my concel

The Xbox 360 1 red light error is one of the most common problems on the Xbox 360 platform.Basically, the reason the Xbox 360 1 red light occurs is due to DVD or hard drive errors. Whilst these are not as common as graphics card malfunctions (which account for most instances of the "red ring of death" problem)
Therefore, if you have one red light in the power ring of your Xbox 360, you can be confident that this problem is caused by a hard drive error or a DVD problem. The next step in fixing the problem is to determine exactly which component the problem is with, ie whether the error is being caused by a hard drive fault, or whether it is being caused by a DVD drive fault.
To do this you need to consult the error code which appears on your TV screen when you try to turn your console on. If the code displayed is either E67, E69, or E79 then it is a hard drive problem. If it is E64, E65 or E66 then it is a DVD drive problem, which is slightly easier to fix. However, generally both of these errors are remedied by re-attaching the connector leads which can come loose, or by adjusting the "X" clamps on your console's motherboard.
