Question about Dell Latitude D830 Notebook
Ok i work on computers for a living but this one has my mind blown. I have a Dell Latitude D830 and whenever I have me headset unplugged and the sound coming from the speakers if theres a loud sound played, or if im on skype and someone coughs or creates a spike in the sound the laptop instantly shuts down. My thought is that a speaker is vibrating and shorting on something to cause the instant off but I figured i'd get a second or third or fourth opinion before I tear into it to find the evil monster inside.
Either that or the battery is near the end of its life and when a big spike in current is needed it fails so the voltage drops and the processor chokes, instantly shutting it down.

Testimonial: "Hmm I hadn't thought of an overdraw that cant be made up for. Great idea! Though I should have mentioned that since my battery died when it was 8 months old I just leave it plugged in with out the battery in the laptop. However, i suppose the same could be happening with the power supply. An over draw that is."
